HBO is in discussions with two well-known British performers, Janet McTeer and Paapa Essiedu, for significant roles in its eagerly anticipated Harry Potter series. Both actors have been recognized by Emmy and Oscar nominations.
Deadline reports that McTeer, aged 63, could potentially take on the role once held by the late Dame Maggie Smith as Professor Minerva McGonagall. On the other hand, Essiedu, at 34 years old, is currently in discussions to step into the shoes of Professor Severus Snape, a character previously brought to life by Alan Rickman across all Harry Potter films.
In February, it was announced that John Lithgow would portray Albus Dumbledore in the upcoming series. McTeer and Essiedu are impressive actors set to join the cast, and if they are indeed confirmed by HBO, a new wave of fans can anticipate what this trio of highly-skilled professors from Hogwarts might be like.
