‘Harry Potter’ Remake Reveals First Look at Never-Seen Voldemort Scene

The new Harry Potter series coming to HBO is offering fans a glimpse of moments that weren’t shown in the original movies. Recent photos taken on location in the English village of Lustleigh, and shared online by William Dax/SNSW and Wizarding World Direct, seem to show the night Lord Voldemort attacked Harry’s parents in Godric’s Hollow.

The presence of Halloween costumes hints that the story will delve deeply into a pivotal moment: Voldemort’s attack on the Potter family, including the deaths of James and Lily, and how the curse backfired, ultimately leading Hagrid to rescue baby Harry.

This new series is inspired by the popular Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling. HBO is making it alongside Warner Bros. Television, Brontë Film & TV, and Heyday Films. Dominic McLaughlin will play Harry Potter, with Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger. John Lithgow, Janet McTeer, Paapa Essiedu, and Nick Frost are also featured in supporting roles.

Work on the series began in early 2021, with Francesca Gardiner as showrunner and Mark Mylod directing. After reviewing over 32,000 auditions, McLaughlin, Stout, and Stanton were chosen for the lead roles. Filming started in July 2025 at Leavesden Studios in England. Originally intended for HBO Max, the show will now premiere on HBO in early 2027, with the first season consisting of eight episodes.

Fans are really looking forward to seeing beloved scenes from the original story retold with more depth. Recent images suggest the new version will stay true to the source material while also offering a new perspective, with plenty of emotional moments and a deeper look into the characters’ histories.
