Harrison Ford Talks Red Hulk and US Presidents in ‘Captain America: Brave New World’: “we could really end up in a political Marvel movie”

In approximately three weeks, we’ll witness the premiere of ‘Captain America: Brave New World.’ This exciting film is set to hit theaters on Valentine’s Day, specifically on February 14th. Interestingly, this will mark Sam Wilson’s inaugural solo adventure as Captain America within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In this film, Anthony Mackie assumes the character of Sam Wilson, now taking up the mantle of Captain America. As an underdog, he demonstrates his leadership skills by wielding his vibranium shield and wingsuit. Danny Ramirez portrays Joaquin Torres, a close friend to Wilson, who steps into the role as the new Falcon. Lastly, Carl Lumbly reprises his role as Isaiah Bradley, a super soldier with a troubled history.

In addition to the main cast, the movie will present Harrison Ford’s character, President Thaddeus Ross, transforming into Red Hulk; Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist Sidewinder; and Tim Blake Nelson portraying The Leader. A number of other significant characters are also included in the lineup.

During the build-up to the movie’s release, Harrison Ford playfully poked fun at the political climate in the U.S. by suggesting an amusing connection between U.S. Presidents and his character, the Red Hulk. However, he was quick to clarify that any resemblance is entirely coincidental and no President possesses the power to transform into a Hulk-like creature.

It’s important to note that any similarity to real or past U.S. Presidents is purely accidental. To date, there has been no president known to possess the ability to turn into the Hulk.

He too pondered over the strange and unforeseeable characteristics of politics, implying that scenarios as extraordinary as those found in superhero films could someday seem plausible in reality, making it feel as if we were watching a real-life political Marvel adventure.

In the realm of our political experiences, such situations are uncharted territories; yet, we’ve caught glimpses of the political spectrum broad enough to make it seem as though we might find ourselves as characters in a politically-themed Marvel blockbuster.

It seems probable that Ford isn’t pleased with the present political climate in the U.S., given that he previously supported Kamala Harris as a candidate for the 2024 elections. Ford has expressed concern, urging people to heed the warnings of ex-Trump administration members who caution against another term under his leadership.

As a devoted moviegoer of politics, I’d say it’s clear that numerous actors on the stage of American politics, who’ve dedicated their careers to the Republican Party, are now opting for candidates sans the “R” label. This shift, it seems, stems from a deep-seated conviction that our current predicament is a matter of life or death.
