In approximately two weeks, the premiere of “Captain America: Brave New World” is imminent, and anticipation is growing. This movie represents Anthony Mackie’s initial solo venture as Captain America, while introducing Harrison Ford to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross. During the film, he will undergo a transformation into Red Hulk.
Intriguingly, many fans were surprised when it came to light that the Powerful Red Hulk, a significant adversary of the Hulk, would be clashing with Sam Wilson in this eagerly awaited sequel.
In earlier times, Harrison Ford spoke about his part in a project. Initially, the actor admitted that he accepted the job primarily for financial reasons; however, as filming progressed, he discovered a liking for the work.
At a recent promotional event in London for ‘Brave New World’, Ford was questioned about whether he sought advice from Mark Ruffalo on his characterization of Red Hulk, given that Ruffalo has been portraying the Hulk himself for more than ten years and is undoubtedly an expert in this role.
Instead of Harrison Ford’s words: Since Mark Ruffalo was unavailable for guidance, Harrison had to figure out how to portray the Red Hulk on his own. In jest, he expressed hope that Ruffalo wouldn’t be too upset with his portrayal.
No, he wasn’t available for consultation. I just had to wing it. I hope he’s not disappointed.
Ford was questioned regarding his taking over the role from William Hurt, who had played Thaddeus Ross in five Marvel Cinematic Universe films for a span of 13 years until the actor’s passing in 2022, necessitating a recast.
Harrison Ford expressed doubts about stepping into William Hurt’s role in the MCU, comparing it somewhat to Alec Baldwin’s situation. Yet, he recognized that it was part of his job to take on the role and give it the respect it deserved. He attributes the script for providing a more intricate and captivating character, stating that he found the experience fascinating as it marked his debut in a Marvel production.
While I’m unsure if the comparison between Alec Baldwin and Will Hurt applies to my situation, taking on a role that others have played before can be daunting. Luckily, I had a lot of support from the script as the character’s storyline became more complex and potentially intriguing. The emotional depth required for this role was intense, and it was an exciting challenge since I hadn’t been involved in a Marvel film previously.
