As a passionate movie buff, I’d rephrase it like this: In the original film, Happy Gilmore wasn’t keen on golf; it was hockey he yearned for. However, circumstances led him to swing a golf club instead, as it provided an opportunity to amass significant wealth – something vital for saving his beloved grandma’s house. Unbeknownst to many, he achieved far more than that! He clinched the Tour Championship, sending Shooter McGavin scampering in fear. So what could persuade golf’s longest-hitting, coarsest player, Happy Gilmore, to tee off again on the greens for Happy Gilmore 2? The recently unveiled trailer for Happy Gilmore 2 reveals that old habits die hard. Once more, he finds himself drawn back to golf due to a pressing need for cash – this time for the sake of someone dear to him.
At Netflix’s TUDUM event in 2025, we got a glimpse of the new Happy Gilmore movie sequel. The trailer seems to have a sense of deja vu at its best, and at its worst, it appears overly repetitive. There are definite echoes of The Hangover Part II, with numerous references, characters, and jokes that seem to be direct copies from the original film.
However, there’s also an element of mystery surrounding the situation. What led Happy to lose his signature style on the golf course, leading him to retire from the game that had brought him fame? What went awry and for how long will this persist? Furthermore, how can he regain his previous form? If the film focuses more on these new aspects rather than relying too heavily on the old ones, it should still be an enjoyable watch.
The cast promises to be quite enjoyable as Adam Sandler works with a mix of familiar and new actors when he resumes filming for the upcoming sequel, Happy Gilmore 2. The original lineup, including Julie Bowen, Chris McDonald, Kevin Nealon, and Ben Stiller, will reprise their roles.
The remaining cast is brimming with well-known personalities from the worlds of acting, comedy, sports, and more. Among them are Benny Safdie, Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio (also known as Bad Bunny), John Daly, Haley Joel Osment, Jackie Sandler, Sadie Sandler, Sunny Sandler, Maxwell Jacob Friedman, Philip Schneider, Ethan Cutkosky, Conor Sherry, Lavell Crawford, Kym Whitley, John Farley, Eric Andre, Martin Herlihy, Margaret Qualley, Keegan Bradley, Bryson DeChambeau, Tony Finau, Rickie Fowler, Brooks Koepka, Rory McIlroy, Collin Morikawa, Jack Nicklaus, Xander Schauffele, Scottie Scheffler, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Bubba Watson, Will Zalatoris, Verne Lundquist, Austin Post, Marcello Hernandez, Travis Kelce, Eminem, Blake Clark, Oliver Hudson, Reggie Bush, Nikki Garcia, Becky Lynch, Tim Herlihy, Nelly Korda, Nancy Lopez, Boban Mfarjanovic, Paige Spiranac, Dan Patrick, Stephen A. Smith, Ken Jennings, Cam’ron, and Scott Mescudi.
As a die-hard film enthusiast, I can’t contain my excitement about the cast for the upcoming sequel of “Happy Gilmore”! This lineup is sure to send shivers of joy down the spines of sports and cinema aficionados alike. If all goes according to plan, this movie will undoubtedly live up to its hype when it hits Netflix on July 25, 2025.
