As a dedicated follower of Halsey’s musical journey, I am absolutely thrilled about her upcoming fifth studio album, The Great Impersonator. With each new release, she manages to captivate us with her unique blend of storytelling and musical versatility, making every album an exciting exploration of different eras and styles.
In the trailer for her fifth studio album, titled “The Great Impersonator,” Halsey blends musical styles from the 2000s to the 70s. This Eastside singer always excels at compelling storytelling, and this new confessional album is no exception. The pop sensation has been sharing insights into her creative process through a series of clips, offering glimpses of her in the studio as well as dressed up as various celebrities.
She initially admits, “I truly believed that this album would be my final one.” In the video, she reflects on how different her life might have been if she hadn’t switched her stage name from Ashley (her real name) to Halsey and launched her musical career in 2014.
Pondering over what my journey might have looked like if I stepped into the music scene during the early 2000s, the ’90s, the ’80s, or even the ’70s, I couldn’t help but imagine myself embodying pop icons such as David Bowie and Britney Spears. In each timeline, would I still be Halsey? Would illness continue to be a part of my story? Or perhaps, in another life, would I become a mother?
The teaser also featured a clip of her previously released single Lucky which interpolates Britney Spears’ eponymous song as well as some unreleased songs inspired by aesthetics and sounds of different decades. “If it all ended right now, is this a person you’d be proud to leave behind? Is it even you?” she says in the video.
Previously this year, the artist known as Colors debuted her first single titled “The End” off her new album. This powerful song expresses her experiences following a diagnosis with Lupus SLE, sharing that she feels fortunate to be alive. Additional tracks on the album include “Lucky and Lonely Is the Muse.”
As a committed fan, I’m proud to share that the album “If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power” climbed up to the number 2 spot on the Billboard 200 chart. The founder of About-Face Beauty has continued to impress me with her releases. In 2022, she unveiled the hit single “So Good,” which made its way onto the Billboard 100 chart. More recently, in 2023, she dropped another chart-topping song, “Die 4 Me.” These tracks have undeniably showcased her exceptional talent and creativity.
Halsey hasn’t announced a release date but according to her website it will be out in 2024.
