The new *Halloween* game lets you experience the night of October 31, 1978 – the same night as the original *Halloween* and *Halloween II* – from two perspectives. You can play as a civilian, helping people and finding weapons, or become Michael Myers, known as “The Shape,” and stalk your victims. As Michael, you’ll use frightening abilities to attack unexpectedly, just as Dr. Loomis described. The developers have meticulously recreated the 1970s suburban setting of John Carpenter’s classic film, right down to details like an avocado green refrigerator – a perfect touch for the era.
Playing as Michael Myers in the new game includes a special ‘Shape Jump’ ability, letting you become temporarily invisible – mirroring his signature disappearances in the *Halloween* movies. The game itself is a collaboration between Compass International Pictures and Further Front, and will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (through Steam and the Epic Games Store) on September 8, 2026. Interestingly, September 8th is also *Star Trek* Day, commemorating the show’s 1966 debut. This release date is particularly fitting, as Michael Myers’ famous mask was originally a repainted William Shatner (Captain Kirk) mask – a connection that seems almost intentional.
