As a die-hard fan of Hallmark movies, I have to say that Jonathan Bennett is undeniably one of their most beloved holiday stars! From his charming roles in classics like “Christmas Made to Order” and “The Christmas House,” to his more recent work on shows like “Finding Mr. Christmas,” he has become synonymous with the festive season for many viewers.

Hallmark is widely recognized for its holiday-themed programming, and regardless of personal opinions about their movies, they symbolize the television season associated with holidays for numerous individuals worldwide. Consequently, it’s no wonder that many people are eagerly anticipating their holiday content, as Hallmark dedicates a significant amount of resources to produce it.

Many performers, some of whom later gained prominence as holiday icons for the studio, starred in these films. These productions garner a significant audience, even though the actors and actresses may not achieve superstardom; they still cultivate a dedicated fan base throughout their journey.

As a devoted fan, I’d like to point out that one of my favorites, Jonathan Bennett, who you might recognize from “Veronica Mars,” has made quite an impact as a holiday film icon on the Hallmark channel. However, in a fascinating interview, this Christmas movie star shared a surprising fact – he doesn’t actually deck the halls with holly and tinsel in his real life!

In contrast to his on-screen persona as one of Hallmark Channel’s beloved Christmas stars, Jonathan Bennett finds himself less festive at home. He confessed this in an interview with US Weekly, revealing that he doesn’t typically deck the halls for Christmas, despite his profession being deeply rooted in the holiday season.

43-year-old Bennett openly admitted this during his promotion of ‘Finding Mr. Christmas’ on Hallmark+. He clarified that after several months of shooting Christmas films and programs, he often feels exhausted when the actual holiday season comes around.

This year, I’m working on quite a few festive films, such as “Finding Mr. Christmas,” “Christmas on Cherry Lane,” a follow-up to another yuletide movie, and one for the upcoming season too. With all this holiday production, I jokingly feel like I’ve been drenched in tinsel for six months out of the year!

Despite not being particularly excited about Christmas decorations, Bennett came up with an enjoyable idea. He suggested inviting the contestants from the show ‘Finding Mr. Christmas’ to help him decorate his home. The actor even proposed turning it into a competition where the contestants would have 30 minutes to transform his house for the festive season.

Bennett has been a frequent face in Hallmark’s Christmas universe since 2010, making his debut in a Hallmark Christmas movie. However, it was his role in Christmas Made to Order in 2018 that truly catapulted him into stardom within the network’s holiday productions, solidifying his position as a primary choice for leading roles in their festive films.

In the year 2020, Bennett marked history through “The Christmas House,” the first Hallmark film to feature a gay couple. This was followed by another installment in 2021 titled “The Christmas House 2: Deck Those Halls.” Continuing his streak of success, he starred in this sequel with Hallmark as well.

In addition, Bennett appeared in the 2022 film titled “The Holiday Sitter“, a production that revolved around a tale of a same-sex couple. In this movie, his character, Sam, looks after his niece and nephew with assistance from an endearing neighbor. Later in 2023, he filmed “Christmas on Cherry Lane“, which garnered a sequel this year, titled “Season’s Greetings From Cherry Lane“, exclusively on Hallmark+.

Besides his work as an actor, Bennett is also the mastermind behind “Finding Mr. Christmas,” a reality competition series airing on Hallmark+. In this show, ten candidates are put to the test by completing festive challenges aimed at demonstrating their abilities to be the next big star on Hallmark.

The victor of the contest will feature in the 2024 Christmas film titled “Happy Howlidays,” alongside Jessica Lowndes. It was Bennett who conceived the idea for this show, inspired by conversations with friends expressing their desire to shine as Hallmark stars. Being an enthusiast of reality TV, he found the concept of transforming the journey to a Hallmark leading man into a competition an entertaining one.

Bennett asserts that Hallmark movies have significantly influenced popular culture, and he notes that viewers are deeply fond of the actors connected to the channel. In simpler terms, he expresses this idea by saying, ‘People have grown quite fond of the distinctive stars on Hallmark. They adore their Hallmark heartthrobs.’
