As a gamer with years of experience diving into various universes and genres, I can relate to Halle Berry‘s unique perspective on her role as Catwoman. Having spent countless hours navigating through games based on superhero franchises, I’ve come across my fair share of hits and misses. The Catwoman film is one of those misses, but it’s not all bad – just like how a poorly designed boss battle in a game can be frustrating at first, but eventually becomes a source of pride when you finally beat it.
Halle Berry has extensive experience with superhero entertainment, as she’s portrayed Storm, one of Marvel’s most recognized mutant characters, and Catwoman, a significant DC Comics figure.
Initially, providing Catwoman with her own film appeared to be an intriguing prospect; however, the final product was met with such widespread criticism that it almost threatened Halle Berry’s acting career.
2 Decades past its debut, this movie was met with significant criticism and only managed to gross $82 million against a budget of $100 million. It received a total of 7 nominations for the Golden Raspberry Awards, ultimately winning 4 categories: Worst Picture, Worst Actress (Halle Berry), Worst Director, and Worst Screenplay.
Regardless of positive reviews, this movie often pops up as one of the poorest superhero flicks and consistently sparks meme-creation.
Yet, Halle Berry handles it gracefully. In an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Berry shared her affection for the film and enjoys seeing newer generations rediscovering it.
Initially, I wasn’t fond of it, but it received harsh criticism from critics who called it disappointing. However, I’m elated that my children have discovered it online and appreciate it. It feels validating because now they’re praising it, which makes me wonder why everyone had issues with it in the first place. Essentially, they can find it without being influenced by past criticisms, as younger generations weren’t privy to those opinions. They can experience its qualities independently and form their own opinions about it.
