As a mother myself, I can empathize with Halle Bailey’s situation. Raising a child is a delicate balance of love, responsibility, and privacy. When it comes to our children, we want to protect them while also sharing their joy with the world.
Halle Bailey, a well-known singer and actress, recently chose to deactivate her social media accounts following the controversy of her ex-boyfriend DDG streaming live with their 11-month-old son, Halo, without Halle’s approval. This event sparked various opinions online, as some people defended her decision while others accused her of being inconsistent in managing her son’s social media presence.
In 2022, singer Halle Bailey and internet sensation DDG (a rapper and YouTube personality) made their relationship official. Their son, named Halo, was born in December 2023. Halle chose to keep her pregnancy under wraps until a month after Halo’s birth when she confirmed the news. Despite parting ways towards the end of 2024, they continued to be good friends and committed parents.
The conflict started when DDG broadcasted alongside Halo during his stream on Kai Cenat’s platform. During this time, he put Halo in a trash bag as part of the show. This action upset Halle, who was not present and had not been informed about Halo appearing on the stream. She vented her frustration on her social media platform, X, saying she was away and unaware of the situation. Halle’s comments sparked differing reactions among fans, with some sympathizing with her as a mother, while others argued that given her own history of sharing Halo’s images and videos online, she could have resolved the issue privately.
Many people defended Halle by pointing out that premeditated social media posts are fundamentally different from unplanned, extended livestreams involving a baby. Critics of DDG also brought attention to his handling of Halo during the livestream, specifically the questionable action of using a trash bag in a manner that sparked controversy.
Amidst the growing criticism, Halle chose to remove her TikTok and Instagram profiles, opting to stay out of the digital limelight. So far, DDG has not addressed Halle’s issues explicitly, but he did share on his TikTok platform a message suggesting his dedication as a father, “fatherhood is just too cool; make sure you look after your kids,” indicating his focus on parenting in the midst of the controversy.
