Once you’ve permanently defeated Chronos in Hades 2 and completed the main storyline, the world changes slightly, even as you continue playing through runs in both the underworld and the surface world. The biggest change is the addition of several new characters you can meet, including Hades, Persephone, the now-reformed Chronos, and, most importantly, Melinone’s older brother, Zagreus.
Zagreus isn’t just a character you can talk to; he’s actually a hidden boss battle in Hades 2. So, we’ll walk you through how to find him.
How to find Zagreus in Hades 2
After completing the main story, there’s a chance to find a new item – an infernal contract appearing as a blood pool – when you visit Charon’s shop during a run. Accepting this contract will teleport you to the colosseum in Elysium, an area you can’t normally access in Hades 2. Zagreus is also there, and he’ll share some dialogue with Melione before the battle starts. During the fight, Zagreus wields Gigaros, Hades’ spear.
If you manage to beat Zagreus, you’ll receive two rewards. First, you’ll get some Gemstones, which you can trade to the Wretched Broker to earn Kudos – these are used to customize the Crossroads. Second, and more helpfully, for the rest of your current run, every shop run by Charon will have one extra item available to purchase.
Additionally, if you manage to beat Zagreus two times, you’ll unlock his Calling Card Keepsake, which allows you to finish gathering the entire collection.
