Hades 2 End to Deepest Slumber: How to wake Hypnos

You’ll quickly find Hypnos sleeping peacefully in the Crossroads when you begin playing Hades 2, and you’ll probably want to wake him up. While it’s possible, it requires a significant effort. This guide will explain everything you need to do to wake Hypnos, including gathering the necessary materials.

How to unlock the first Hypnos scene – Hades 2

Hypnos features several scenes that reveal the story behind its current state and potential solutions. To access the first scene, you need to complete these two steps:

  • Give Hypnos Nectar twice
  • Harvest at least one Poppy.

You can get Nectar from completing runs and by visiting the Wretched Broker. Poppy seeds are found by digging at sites in Tartarus. Collecting these unlocks the incantation “End to Deepest Slumber,” which needs:

  • 1 Moly
  • 2 Mandrake
  • 3 Poppy

The flower Moly grows in the underworld region of Erebus, and Mandrake seeds can be found by digging in the Rift of Thessaly. After collecting these items, finish the spell, offer the Dream Vapors to Hypnos, and the first part of the story will begin.

How to unlock the second Hypnos scene – Hades 2

This encounter will help Melione understand her next task, though it won’t be enough to awaken the god of sleep. To continue, you need to find Medea, who can be found in the City of Ephyrea. Look for her near the door decorated with hands – she appears there occasionally.

Speak with Melione after the initial cutscene. She’ll eventually mention Hypnos, but it might take a few attempts – other conversations or story events could interrupt. Once you get the chance, she’ll teach you a new spell called “End to Dearest Slumber,” and here’s what you’ll need to cast it:

  • 1 Moly
  • 3 Mandrake
  • 2 Poppy

We’re using the same components as last time, but with adjusted quantities. These will produce new fumes to show Hypnos for another scene, but it still won’t be quite enough to finish the task.

How to unlock the final Hypnos scene – Hades 2

After you fail, go back to Medea to receive the final spell. However, getting it will take some effort. The spell, called “End to Dumbest Slumber,” needs these ingredients:

  • 1 Shaderoot
  • 2 Poppy
  • 1 Soot

Shaderoots are the flower you can harvest in Tartarus; however, Soot is trickier.

How to get Soot – Hades 2

Once that’s finished, you can complete the final ritual, witness the concluding moment, and finally awaken Hypnos.
