In Hades 2, your main objective is to defeat Chronos and liberate the underworld, along with your family. However, simply reaching and defeating him in Tartarus isn’t enough – he’ll always return. We’ll guide you through the steps needed to permanently defeat the titan of time and finish the game’s story.
How many runs will it take to beat Hades 2?
If you’re wondering how long it takes to finish the game, you’ll need to complete the main story at least 12 times without seeing spoilers. Each ‘run’ means defeating the final boss. These runs are divided between the game’s underworld and surface areas.
In all, you need to complete 7 successful underworld runs and 5 successful surface runs.
Keep reading below to find out the details of how it all breaks down.
How to complete Dissolution of Time – Hades 2
Once you beat Chronos for the first time, you can talk to Zagreus in a dream and he’ll offer to help you defeat him. Then, if you talk to Hecate, you’ll unlock the “Dissolution of Time” Incantation, which requires 5 Z-Sand and one other item.
After your initial victory, you’ll need to defeat Chronos five additional times, bringing your total to six wins. This accomplishment will achieve three key results:
- Ensure you have enough Z-Sand by defeating Chronos enough times.
- Progress Zagreus’ plotline to the point where he locates a weapon capable of destroying Chronos, Gigaros.
- Reveal the mystery ingredient in the incantation.
The key ingredient is Entropy, but the game doesn’t tell you how to get it. It won’t be a simple task, either – you’ll have to find it at the very top of Mount Olympus.
How to complete Disintegration of Monstrosity – Hades 2
After beating Chronos six times, switch your attention to runs focused on the surface world. There isn’t much left to do in the underworld at this stage. Climb to the top of Olympus and defeat Typhon for the first time. This will unlock a new Incantation called “Disintegration of Monstrosity,” which you must complete before you can challenge Chronos again.
To get Entropy, you’ll need to defeat Typhon four times to collect four V-Lenses. Then, combine those lenses with one Z-Sand and Gigaros. Finally, defeat Typhon one last time to be able to use the resulting weapon.
With the last ingredient in hand, you can finish Dissolution of Time. Then, just one more trip to the underworld will finally defeat Chronos.
Can you keep playing after defeating Chronos?
Okay, so beating Chronos definitely changes things up in the game world, but honestly, the fun doesn’t stop there! There’s a ton of extra stuff you can unlock just by keeping on playing, so it’s totally worth doing more runs after you finish the main story.
