Hades 2: All Animal Familiars and where to find them

As a die-hard fan of Hades 2, I must say that filling idle moments isn’t always a breeze in this game. It’s comforting to know that you don’t have to face the challenges alone. By performing a special spell, you can unlock the power to bring a loyal animal companion along on your journey. These friends offer beneficial perks as you progress through your adventure. What makes it even better is that by mastering additional spells, you can improve these bonds and enhance your advantages further.

How to tame an Animal Familiar

To get a pet accustomed to you, you’ll need to prepare some enticing treats. Here are two distinct recipes for doing so. The initial instance of preparing one of these will incur a cost on your part.

  • 2 Nectar
  • 1 Lotus

Once you’ve made the initial one, you’ll gain access to a repeatable method for creating more. This new method will require:

  • 2 Nectar
  • 1 Stardust

Frinos the Frog

In the bustling Crossroads, right beside your respawn point, you’re most likely to spot Frinos without any specific conditions. Offer them a reward, and they’ll scamper playfully behind you, even if they aren’t the quickest, they’ll always manage to keep up with you.

Frinos offers the following buffs:

  • Absorbs any ranged shots that hit him
  • Gives +10 max HP at the start of a run
  • Deals 10 damage when leaping on foes
  • You are 10% more likely to find Lost Shades

Toula the Cat

It’s a bit more challenging to reach out to Toula, as she won’t become available until certain conditions have been fulfilled.

  • Visit the docks between the City of Ephyra and the Rift of Thessaly more than once
  • Successfully catch a fish using the Rod of Fishing at least once.

Once all necessary conditions are fulfilled, I, an eager admirer, can guide you to where you’ll find Toula – nestled at the docks that straddle the boundary between the vibrant City of Ephyra and the enigmatic Rift of Thessaly.

Toula offers the following buffs:

  • Lets you catch fish without needing to complete the minigame.
  • Provides an extra use of Death Defiance
  • Death Defiance restores 10 more HP
  • You are 10% more likely to find fishing spots
  • Toula strikes enemies 3 times per encounter

Raki the Raven

Raki is set to show up in the room with the fountain, which is situated within Erebus, at an early stage. Here are some benefits they bring along:

1. Increased attack power (Attack Boost)
2. Enhanced defense capabilities (Defense Boost)
3. Improved agility and speed (Move Speed Boost)
4. Ability to recover health more quickly (Health Regen Boost)
5. A higher chance of landing critical hits (Crit Chance Boost)

  • You can gather ore from mining spots in one hit
  • +1% Critical chance
  • You are 10% more likely to find mining spots
  • Occasionally pecks foes, applying Marked

Hecuba the Hound

Hecuba can be quite challenging to encounter, since she has an approximately 75% probability of showing up in Echo’s room within the Fields of Mourning, provided certain conditions are fulfilled.

  • Do at least 12 runs
  • Complete the Bravery of Familiar Spirits incantation
  • Give at least three treats to other familiars to upgrade their abilities
  • Nemesis must not appear in Echo’s room

Besides allowing Hecuba’s appearance, it’s important to note that additional conditions need to be fulfilled for them to become manageable.

  • Recruit Frinos, Toula, and Raki
  • Use Frinos’ ability to compel a Lost Soul at least once
  • Use Raki’s ability to gather from mining spots at least once
  • Give at least four treats to other familiar to upgrade their abilities

Once you’ve finally tamed her, Hecuba offers the following buffs:

  • +15 mana
  • You are 10% more likely to find digging spots
  • Occasionally stuns surrounding foes for 1 second
  • Has a chance to dig up extra health and mana when you’re low

Gale the Polecat

Gale is found in Charon’s shop atop Mount Olympus, which you’ll encounter right before confronting Prometheus. But remember, they won’t show up until these prerequisites are fulfilled:

  • Do at least 12 runs
  • Complete the Bravery of Familiar Spirits incantation
  • Give at least three treats to other familiars to upgrade their abilities

Like Hecuba, they also have an extra set of conditions to become tamable:

  • Recruit Frinos, Toula, and Raki
  • Use Frinos’ ability to compel a Lost Soul at least once
  • Use Raki’s ability to gather from mining spots at least once
  • Give at least four treats to other familiar to upgrade their abilities

After fulfilling each necessary prerequisite, approach Hecate for a conversation, and she shall bestow dialogue that allows you to subdue Gale. Upon completion of this task, you will receive these benefits:

  • +3% dodge chance
  • +3% movement speed
  • You are 10% more likely to find flowers
  • Occasionally leaps into harm’s way, blocking damage to Melione and dealing 250 damage to the foe.
