As reported by Entertainment Weekly, comedy icon Carol Burnett and late-night personality Jimmy Kimmel are set to make appearances in the fourth season of Hacks. Specifically, Kimmel will appear as a guest star in episode five, portraying himself. In this episode, his character encounters Deborah when he learns that she’s attempting to steal a guest for her own show, leading to an interaction between the two characters.
In the fourth episode, you’ll see Burnett appearing briefly as a sympathetic friend who stands by Deborah during her anxious moments. This brief appearance offers a glimpse into Deborah’s vulnerability. This scene also provides a deeper, more intimate insight into Deborah’s character, particularly because of Burnett’s presence.
According to reports, Kimmel apparently tailored certain lines to match the show’s atmosphere and injected self-crafted humor about other late-night talk show hosts. As put by series co-creator Paul W. Downs, “He came up with some really good lines on his own. He wasn’t shy about it.
Smart couldn’t help but praise Burnett’s performance on the show. She shared with the media outlet, “There’s no one else quite like her when it comes to comedy and being an amazingly cool person…. If I can emulate her or Betty White in my 90s, I’ll be a truly content woman.
