Gwyneth Paltrow has spoken about facing challenges in her work after her split from Chris Martin of Coldplay.
In an interview on the “Good Hang” podcast with Amy Poehler, the Academy Award-winning actress shared that she was quickly let go from a film following her breakup. She believes the studio considered her a risk due to the overwhelming media coverage at the time.
Gwyneth Paltrow remembered being cast in a film shortly after her public split from Chris Martin. At the time, the press was very critical, and she said the film’s distributor worried the negative publicity was too risky. With a touch of sarcasm, she added that getting divorced and then losing the role felt like a particularly bad experience.
I remember when Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin announced they were separating back in 2014 – it was all over the place! They used this phrase, “conscious uncoupling,” in a blog post, and it really struck a chord with people. Honestly, it caused quite a buzz, and a lot of folks were skeptical, even a little critical of the way they phrased it. I recall reading how Gwyneth later talked about the reaction and how deeply personal it felt to everyone, and it made a lot of sense why it resonated so strongly.
She explained that if someone experienced a difficult divorce – either their own or their parents’ – hearing about alternative approaches could be upsetting. She believes people might subconsciously feel blamed, thinking, ‘Oh no, are they saying I handled things wrong?’
She explained that she understood why people were so affected, saying it was natural to worry about accidentally hurting someone. She admitted it wasn’t a pleasant thought to consider, and she empathized with those who felt it personally.
I was listening to a podcast the other day and Gwyneth Paltrow was talking about her new movie, “Marty Supreme,” which is an A24 film. It’s a sports drama and she’s acting with Timothée Chalamet, Odessa A’zion, and even Kevin O’Leary! She admitted she wasn’t sure how audiences would react, but she said it was a really bold project, and everyone involved was fantastic. She actually confessed she realized how much she missed acting while working on it, which was really sweet to hear.
“Marty Supreme” shows Gwyneth Paltrow taking on a demanding role and proves she’s still dedicated to acting, despite being in the public eye for so long and going through changes in her personal life.
