As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for romantic tales, I must say that Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton‘s love story is one for the ages. Their unexpected encounter on The Voice set in 2014 led to a beautiful romance that felt like a second chance at happiness after both had gone through challenging times in their previous relationships.
Unexpected love is the best kind, and Gwen Stefani corroborates the words on the street for us. In a recent interview, she shared that she wasn’t even slightly aware of her husband Blake Shelton’s existence before meeting him on The Voice set in 2014. Speaking to The Guardian on Thursday, November 14, the No Doubt frontwoman, 55, revealed she didn’t know about the God’s Country singer before their meeting because she never listened to country music.
“So while he was super successful, I never knew he existed before I met him,” she told the outlet.
Now that she’s focusing on the genre, Stefani mentioned her interest in producing a country album together with her husband.
Oh my goodness, I simply adore joining him in song! He’s remarkably modest and seems unaware of his immense talent. His humility is nothing short of captivating.
On Friday, November 15, Stefani unveiled her fourth studio album titled Bouquets. Some songs on the record delve into her troubled marriage with Gavin Rossdale, while others focus on her blissful relationship with Shelton, like Purple Irises, which features Shelton’s vocals.
Reportedly, when Shelton heard the song, he liked it so much that he ended up singing it.
Stefani articulated that her relationship with the Boys ‘Round Here singer gave her a sense of renewal following her separation from the Bush rocker. She and Rossdale, parents to Kingston (age 18), Zuma (age 16), and Apollo (age 10), parted ways in 2015 after being together for 20 years as a married couple.
Stefani expressed her feelings about their divorce as follows: ‘When our family disintegrated, it was devastating. I found myself at a loss, wondering how to move on.’ However, she continued, ‘Someone else came into my life to offer love and support.’
It wasn’t until 2015 that Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton started a romantic relationship, as both were still dealing with their respective divorces at the time. Shelton had just ended his marriage to Miranda Lambert, while Gwen had announced her separation from Gavin Rossdale only weeks prior.
Stefani elaborated to The Guardian about how the basis of her connection with Shelton served as the inspiration for Purple Irises.
As a devoted admirer, I’d share my understanding this way: In our shared passion for gardening, Blake and I found each other, nestled in the heartland of Oklahoma. On our shared property, we stumbled upon an ancient structure, where resilient purple irises bloomed. It’s as if someone had planted them centuries ago, yet they continued to flourish. The story goes that Stefani penned a song about this enchanting discovery—the exhilaration of finding true love and the lingering fears of losing it.
Stefani and Shelton got married in 2021 at his Oklahoma ranch in an intimate ceremony.
