Gunnar’s Overwatch blue-blockers initialize a defense matrix for your eyeballs

As a long-time gamer and avid collector of high-quality eye protection for my gaming sessions, I’ve had the pleasure of trying out Gunnar’s latest addition to their impressive lineup: the Overwatch 2 Ultimates. And let me tell you, these glasses have left me feeling like a kid in a candy store!

Gunnar has a lot of experience in creating top-notch eye protection for avid gamers. I was recently impressed by the extraordinary Fallout pair, which I now prefer using regularly over any others.

But recently they showed me their new Overwatch ones and *insert distracted boyfriend* meme here.

The new Overwatch 2 Ultimates feature an appealing design. With the shiny 3D Overwatch logo emerging from the sides of the arms, the soft, textured orange surface enveloping the ears, and the harmonious contrast between the sleek graphite grey and rubbery orange textures. It’s quite captivating.

The package includes a distinctive Overwatch glasses pouch and an exceptional lens cleaning cloth adorned with an image of some serious-faced Overwatch characters. Check out their poses! Well done, them.

Although I don’t particularly prefer them due to certain reasons, I must admit that I’ve avoided Blizzard/Activision products, including Overwatch, for quite some time now (because of personal reasons).

Regarding the glasses: They’re clearly intended for much smaller heads than mine. My head is quite large, and if yours is as well, you may find that the temples (the arms at the sides) won’t reach your ears. Additionally, I usually prefer frames with flexible hinges, like those on my favorite pair resembling Groot’s, which provide a comfortable, snug fit. However, these glasses do not have that feature.

I was expecting a robust protective case for this item, as most Gunnar products I’ve seen come with impressive cases. However, what came with Loki was just a standard holding bag. In contrast, the Miles Morales and Fallout versions offer high-quality zippered cases that resemble their respective costumes or have a sturdy metal exterior. Unfortunately, this item only includes a plain carrying bag. Perhaps providing something more visually appealing, like a Loot Crate-inspired box, would enhance the overall presentation.

As a gamer with an average-sized melon, I’d say these issues are worth overlooking if you ask me. But let me tell you, these headsets are nothing short of stunning and terrific in shielding my peepers as I transport that precious cargo. Come on now, focus, we need to get that payload to its destination!
