Guillermo del Toro recently discussed James Cameron’s “Avatar” movies with Konbini Video, a popular French video platform. He’s seen all three films, including the next one, “Avatar: Fire and Ash.”
As a huge fan, I’ve seen all three ‘Avatar’ movies now, and honestly, they’re incredible – total masterpieces! I have a good idea of where the story is headed, and I think audiences are in for a real shock. I can’t say anything specific about the third one, but what’s amazing is how Jim Cameron is building a whole mythology with ‘Avatar’. It’s rare to see that, especially from an American filmmaker. You’ve got George Lucas with ‘Star Wars’, Frank Baum with the ‘Wizard of Oz’, and now Jim is doing that with ‘Avatar’, and he’s going to take us on an unbelievable journey.
Guillermo del Toro has praised James Cameron’s work before. After seeing “Avatar: The Way of Water,” he called it a remarkable accomplishment, noting its grand scope and powerful emotional impact, and saying Cameron is at the top of his game.
James Cameron is currently building excitement for the third Avatar movie, set to come out on December 19, 2025. He’s confident that “Fire and Ash” will be the strongest film in the series and suggests it might even be longer than the previous three-hour-plus installment. Cameron also revealed that his wife, Suzy, saw an early cut last year and was deeply touched, crying for nearly four hours afterward.
Guillermo del Toro’s remarks highlight the increasing buzz surrounding the “Avatar” films and demonstrate that even acclaimed directors admire James Cameron’s skills in creating compelling stories and immersive worlds.
