Guild Raid – Quick Start Guide

Overview

  • Join a guild to participate in Guild Raid! Participating in Guild Raid allows you and your guild to earn Mercenary Alliance Deeds, which are the currency for the Guild Shop.
  • Guild Raids run on a weekly cycle, with new challenges every day.
  • Day 1 to Day 3: Invasion Defense (i.e. preparation phase). Battle normal enemies to upgrade the power of Lancelot, the giant mecha!
  • Day 4 to Day 7: Boss Defense. Battle a giant boss in a giant 5×5 field, with a team of 7 units! Borrow up to 2 supporting allies from your guild members. You also get help from Lancelot, whose power level depends on your guild’s battle performance during the Invasion Defense phase.

Invasion Defense (Day 1 to Day 3)

As an old-timer in this grand world of Brown Dust, I’ve seen my fair share of battles and strategies, but the Guild Raid Boss Defense has got to be one of the most intriguing challenges yet! The freedom to choose your difficulty level is a breath of fresh air compared to the linear progression of Fiend Hunts. But oh boy, don’t underestimate the importance of those precious three support character uses per day!

During the Invasion Defense phase, our objective is to increase Lancelot’s rank to its maximum level, Level 5. To achieve this, it’s essential that your guildmates join the daily challenge battle as they contribute EXP towards his leveling up. Upgrading Lancelot will enhance his attack power, making his skills more potent during the Boss Defense phase. Additionally, it appears that leveling him up boosts his HP, but since Lancelot is immune to attacks during Boss Defense, we’re still figuring out what this stat does for now.

Each day’s battle challenge comes in five distinct levels of difficulty. Since you can only fight once a day without any resets, it’s crucial to select your level wisely! If you conquer the Level 1 battle, your success will be recorded and you won’t get another chance to try higher difficulties within that same day.

As a gamer, I find that each challenge in our game has a ‘Repel tally’, which tracks how many times we, my guild, have conquered a specific level. Once this counter hits its maximum, the victory is logged as a “Successful Repel”. In return, our Lancelot character gains an enormous EXP boost.

To maximize Lancelot’s advancement, aim to collect all the bonuses from successful defenses. For instance, if at level 5 you manage a successful repel but your level 4 hasn’t yet, it would be wiser to upgrade level 4 first, even if you can overcome level 5.

Boss Defense (Day 4 to Day 7)

Combat

Boss Defense stands out as it’s the sole game mode played on a larger, 5×5 grid (rather than the standard 3×4). Furthermore, unlike most games where only five characters are fielded, in this mode you can utilize seven. Among these seven, up to two can be support characters lent from your guild mates. This expansive team setup introduces numerous strategic opportunities.

Similar to fiend hunts, crits are guaranteed once you reach a certain number of chain stacks.

Due to the enormous size of the boss, identifying attack and weak spots can be quite challenging. If you find yourself having trouble navigating the battlefield, consider utilizing the “Rotate View” button located at the bottom. This feature offers a clear bird’s-eye view of the entire field, helping you better understand the situation.

Retries

In Invasion Defense, you can only engage once a day, whereas during the Boss Defense stage, you have the flexibility to try multiple times whenever you wish.

Note that you can immediately challenge any difficulty level you want (unlike fiend hunts, you do not need to start from Lv 1).

Additionally, remember that while you can play as many times as desired daily, the rule is that you can only call on aid from other guild members’ support characters a maximum of three times per day (or complete three runs). If you abandon or fail a Boss Defense battle before completion, it won’t be counted. Once you have successfully completed three Boss Defense battles with support characters (regardless if you use one or two), you will no longer be able to request additional help.

Boss attack pattern

The boss has two phases.

Initially, the boss chooses an attack at random during each encounter, but beware, the choice of attack changes every time you face it. If you’re not satisfied with the boss’s opening move, you can reset the battle and possibly receive a different first strike. As the fight progresses, if you dislike the attack selected by the boss, you have the option to redo the previous turn in an attempt to get a more favorable random result.

Whenever my boss’s health dips below half, it kicks things up a notch by unleashing its Overdrive abilities – these special moves pack quite a punch compared to its usual set of skills!

Just as a monster hunter tracks down bosses that have unique abilities which can only be triggered at specific moments or under particular circumstances, so too does the guild raid boss possess special skills that become active only during designated turns or when specific requirements are fulfilled.

Lancelot

In the Boss Defense fight, Lancelot initially remains idle. To bring him into action, build up a chain of attacks to fill his meter. When his meter is full, decide wisely when to use him since you can only do so once.

Lancelot remains active for just six rounds (or three of your game turns), allowing him to utilize only three out of his four abilities throughout this period. Upon entering a battle, he automatically employs the Redeeming Strike skill. In the subsequent two rounds, you have the option to choose which one out of the next three skills he will activate each turn:

  • Arondight Rush: 9x hits attack (good for stacking chains and amplifying your team’s damage)
  • Radiant Combat Mastery: Burn damage attack (good to use earlier to get more burn turns in)
  • Blessing of the Lake: Refreshes cooldowns and recharges SP

When Lancelot enters battle, he will apply “Break”, which disables the boss’s next attack.

During combat, it appears that Lancelot persistently interrupts the boss’s special abilities when triggered by their conditions (although this isn’t explicitly mentioned in his skill profiles). For instance, the first guild boss, Flame Lord Arc Farlas, employs a team-wide instant kill move on Turn 20. If you deploy Lancelot on Turn 15, he will interrupt the boss’s Turn 20 ability, enabling you to carry on fighting until Turn 21. On the other hand, if you summon Lancelot prior to Turn 15, you won’t get the chance to disrupt the Turn 20 ability and you’ll forfeit the opportunity to continue into Turn 21.

Seasons

Just as certain monsters change their types every week (referred to as ‘fiend hunts’), so too can the bosses of some guilds alter their elements each week. However, it’s important to note that there are also guild bosses who have no specific element. Keep in mind that champions with abilities that boost damage against certain elements (like Diana) won’t be effective against these ‘no-element’ bosses.

Happy hunting!
