GTA 6 release date announced, but it’s delayed to 2026

It turns out that Grand Theft Auto VI does indeed have an officially announced launch date; however, regrettably, it won’t be making its debut in 2025 as initially planned.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is scheduled for release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles on May 26, 2026. However, that date is more than a year from now.

On Twitter, Rockstar’s official account announced the updated release date through a picture, which clearly states: [the new date].

“Grand Theft Auto VI is now set to release on May 26, 2026.

Apologies for the delay, dear fan! The overwhelming enthusiasm and anticipation for the new Grand Theft Auto has left us speechless. I can’t help but express my gratitude for your unwavering support and understanding as we diligently work towards its completion.

For each game we’ve launched, our aim has consistently been to surpass your anticipations, and GTA VI follows suit. Please know that we require additional time to ensure we meet the high-quality standards you have come to appreciate.

On December 4, 2023, the long-awaited initial teaser for Grand Theft Auto VI finally dropped, following numerous whispers and anticipation.

It’s uncertain exactly when new details about GTA6 will emerge, given that it’s not due out for another year. This means there’s ample opportunity for leaked information, rumors, and even wild speculations to surface.
