Good news for Gremlins fans! Warner Bros. has confirmed that a third movie, Gremlins 3, will hit theaters on November 19, 2027.
Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav has approved the project, officially bringing back the playful and troublesome mogwai.
Chris Columbus, the director of the first Gremlins movie, is back to produce and direct the new film. Steven Spielberg will again be involved as an executive producer through his company, Amblin Entertainment. Columbus recently directed the Netflix series based on The Thursday Murder Club, also an Amblin production, and is now using that experience to revisit the Gremlins franchise.
Not much is known about the new movie yet, including the plot and who will star in it. It’s unclear if Zach Galligan, the original star, will return, or if the film will focus on a new set of characters.
This will be the first new Gremlins movie since Gremlins 2: The New Batch came out in 1990. While fans waited, there have been animated series like Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai and Gremlins: The Wild Batch, which both premiered on HBO Max in 2023 and 2024.
Now that Columbus and Spielberg are on board, people are expecting the new movie to feel just as delightful and playful as the first ones. The Hollywood Reporter says the planned release date hints at a big holiday showing, possibly around the same time as films like Snow White.
