Grayscale Reveals Nearly 40 Altcoins For Investment Consideration

Grayscale has unveiled a comprehensive roster of potential cryptocurrencies, encompassing meme coins, artificial intelligence tokens, and more. These digital assets may soon be integrated into their investment offerings.

In the course of its evaluation, the investment manager updates its product portfolio fifteen days following the end of each quarter.

Grayscale Reveals Potential Candidates for Q1 2025

In a recent announcement, Grayscale expressed interest in expanding its collection of investable digital assets by potentially including 39 different cryptocurrencies. These 39 cryptos can be categorized into five main groups: Currencies (used as a means of exchange or for storing value), Smart Contract Platforms, Financial products, Consumer and Cultural assets, and Utilities and Service-oriented tokens. This grouping approach is consistent with how Grayscale has handled such additions in the past.

Grayscale Crypto Sector Assets Under Consideration
Currencies Kaspa (KAS)
Smart Contract Platforms Aptos (APT), Arbitrum (ARB), Celestia (TIA), Hedera Hashgraph (HBAR), Mantle (MNT), Sei (SEI), Sonic (S) Starknet (STRK), Toncoin (TON), TRON (TRX)
Financials  Aerodrome (AERO), Binance Coin (BNB), Ethena (ENA), Hyperliquid (HYPE)* Injective Protocol (INJ), Jupiter (JUP), Ondo Finance (ONDO), Pendle (PENDLE), THORChain (RUNE).
Consumer & Culture Ai16z (AI16Z)* Dogecoin (DOGE), Immutable (IMX), Virtuals Protocol (VIRTUAL)*
Utilities & Services Akash Network (AKT), Artificial Superintelligence Alliance (FET), Arweave (AR), Eigen Layer (EIGEN), FLock.io (FLOCK)*, Grass (GRASS)*, Helium (HNT), Hyperbolic*, Jito (JTO), Prime Intellect*, Pyth (PYTH), Sentient*, Space and Time*, Story Protocol*, and Worldcoin (WLD).

It’s worth mentioning that Grayscale has previously included altcoins in their investment options. Recently, they followed this pattern by adding a total of 35 altcoins to their portfolio around mid-October.

Remarkably, some cryptocurrencies from the initial list under review are still present in the current one. These include KAS, APT, ARB, and TIA. Similarly, others have been taken off. This suggests the intricacies involved in getting included on Grayscale’s list of potential investments.

During the current quarter, the list may be adjusted because certain multi-asset funds are being revised, and new individual-asset products will be introduced,” Grayscale noted.

Items or ventures denoted by an asterisk (*) were included in the list following December 31st. The quality of these may stem from evolving tendencies within the cryptocurrency sector, as it consistently expands and develops.

Currently, the revised list indicates that Grayscale is keeping a close eye on RWA, DePin, and AI, particularly focusing on AI agent tokens.

Moreover, Grayscale has added Binance Coin (BNB) and Hyperliquid (HYPE) to their portfolio, representing tokens tied to centralized and decentralized exchanges respectively. This move suggests that the company is aiming to explore both sectors of the market and broaden its investment horizons.

Moreover, it appears that Grayscale’s recent announcement didn’t significantly affect the prices of the 39 alternative coins. Instead, the cryptocurrency market has been experiencing steady liquidations for the last week, punctuated by a slight uptick in value today.
