Grant Gustin Says He Didn’t Like Some Storylines in ‘The Flash’ Season 7

Actor Grant Gustin, known for his role as Barry Allen on The Flash, recently attended Liverpool Comic-Con and shared that certain aspects of Season 7 didn’t resonate with him. In a recent interview, he expressed dislike towards the “Forces” plotline and also faced challenges with the Godspeed arc’s lightsaber-like combat scenes.

As a seasoned movie critic, I must confess my thoughts on the seventh season of “The Flash.” In this installment, our beloved characters Barry Allen and Iris West introduce powerful energy entities they call the Forces. These entities, reminiscent of offspring, were handled as such throughout the series. However, it appears that Grant Gustin, who plays Barry, expressed reservations about this concept.

Calling the forces ‘my children’… I tried to talk them out of that,” he said.

Additionally, he discussed the intense battle sequence against the antagonist Godspeed, during which they used weapons resembling lightsabers but powered by speed force. This part of the story left him feeling somewhat disappointed.

I was like… we can do this now? Really?” Gustin said about the battle.

Despite the fact that The Flash boasts numerous imaginative and thrilling episodes across its 9-season span, it seems that Grant Gustin found certain plotlines from Season 7 to be overly extreme for his liking.

Previously, Gustin expressed his apprehensions regarding a particular scene from season 7’s premiere. This was because he had to portray multiple variations of Harrison Wells, a character typically played by Tom Cavanagh.

He was particularly concerned with nailing the French accent for the Sherlock Holmes character. However, the show’s producer, Eric Wallace, had confidence in him and commended Grant for his excellent performance.

As a dedicated viewer and occasional on-screen presence myself, I must confess that I stuck with this series right up until its conclusion in Season 9. Looking back, I’m grateful for the incredible adventure it provided me. However, it’s undeniable that not every aspect of the journey resonated with me wholeheartedly.
