Exciting news has been announced by Crunchyroll – Colombian singer J Balvin is going to venture into the realm of Solo Leveling. He will be a part of both the English and Spanish dub casts for Season 2 -Arise from the Shadow-. Starting this coming Saturday, he will voice the character Kargalgan in the English dub, while the Spanish dub with his voice will become available on March 1st.
This season began on January 4th, and Crunchyroll is streaming both subtitled and dubbed versions. The English dub made its debut on January 18th, directed by Caitlin Glass. Samantha Herek served as the producer, while Jessica Sluys took care of script adaptation, and Gino Palencia mixed the audio with Jamal Roberson handling the engineering work.
In this production, we have some familiar voices returning: Aleks Le as Sung Jinwoo, Rebecca Wang as Sung Jinah, Daman Mills as Barca, and Trina Nishimura as Park Heejin. Other notable roles are taken by SungWon Cho as Woo Jinchul, Christopher R. Sabat as Baek Yoonho, and Michelle Rojas as Cha Hae-In. The remaining characters, which include B-Rank and C-Rank hunters, students, and other figures, complete the ensemble cast.
To kick off the new season’s soundtrack, the opening theme titled “ReawakeR” features LiSA and Felix from Stray Kids. Renowned composer Hiroyuki Sawano, famous for his work on “Attack on Titan” and “Kill la Kill,” has returned to compose this track. The closing song for the season is “UN-APEX,” sung by TK of Ling Tosite Sigure.
The original web novel of Solo Leveling, previously transformed by DUBU (REDICE Studio), was initially introduced as a webcomic back in 2018 and concluded in 2021. Translations for the English audience can be found on platforms like Yen Press, Tapas, and more. Additionally, a live-action adaptation is currently being developed in South Korea.
