As a longtime fan of Neil Gaiman‘s work, I must admit that the recent allegations against him have left me feeling quite disheartened and bewildered. Good Omens is one of my all-time favorite shows, and the news of its production pause has cast a shadow over my anticipation for the third season.
According to Deadline, the production of Good Omens season three, the last installment of the popular series, has been temporarily halted due to accusations of assault involving creator Neil Gaiman. As the executive producer, writer, and showrunner of Good Omens, it’s no surprise that these serious allegations have led to a suspension of work on the series for the moment. Deadline adds that there are ongoing discussions about potential changes in production, but Amazon has not yet issued any official statements on the matter.
Neil Gaiman has refuted the accusations made against him, and authorities in New Zealand are currently investigating. This pause in production of “Good Omens” is happening alongside delays in Disney’s adaptation of Gaiman’s “The Graveyard Book”. Additionally, Netflix has ended its series “Dead Boy Detectives”. According to IndieWire, several factors played a role in the decision regarding “The Graveyard Book”, but no connection to Gaiman was mentioned in the cancellation announcement for “Dead Boy Detectives”.
Production on a third season of “Good Omens” was about to kick off, but Amazon put the project on hold temporarily. Fervent fans of the show are no doubt hoping for a smooth continuation, and more details should be announced shortly.
