This year at the Golden Globes, Cara Delevingne and Anya Taylor-Joy didn’t just attend casually; they stepped back into the ’90s fashion scene with their matching outfits that evoked memories of Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino from Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion.
It seems that the striking attire worn by Anya and Delevingne was purely unintentional. In the movie “Last Night in Soho,” the star wore a delicate pink satin dress adorned with an eye-catching neckpiece, bearing a resemblance to the iconic costume Kudrow donned in the mentioned film.
Alternatively, Delevingne donned a striking, shimmering blue ensemble, which was so reminiscent of the memorable costume worn by Sorvino’s character in the film that it was challenging not to be reminded of it.
At the award ceremony held at The Beverly Hilton in California on January 5th, I discovered that the matching outfits my fellow attendees and I wore weren’t intentionally planned. However, as it turned out to be a pleasant coincidence, we’ve decided to own it and make it intentional. As The Glass star put it to Variety, “It happened by chance, but now we’re making it deliberate.” Similarly, the Paper Towns actress referred to it as a “fortunate mishap.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I must say, it appeared as though this wasn’t their first synchronized style statement. Based on reports from People magazine, during the 2023 Glastonbury Festival in England, held in July, these two stars were spotted donning remarkably similar outfits.
It’s fair to conclude that at this stage, Anya and Delevingne have both honed their skills in delivering striking appearances – whether it be on a red carpet or within a project. Furthermore, Delevingne truly excelled when she embodied Elton John for his music video titled “Step Into Christmas.” This video seems to be a recreation of the renowned musician’s original video for the same song, which was first released in 1973.
