Godzilla is coming back with a vengeance.
Toho and GKids have announced that Godzilla Minus One will be released in North American theaters on November 6, 2026. It will premiere in Japan on November 3, a date chosen to commemorate the original Godzilla film released in 1954.
Takashi Yamazaki, the director and writer of the hit 2023 film Godzilla Minus One, is back with a sequel. The original Godzilla Minus One was a huge success, earning over $116 million globally and making history as the first Asian film to win the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.
Gkids is excited to release Godzilla Minus Zero in North America after the huge success of Godzilla Minus One, according to Gkids president David Jesteadt. He believes this new film will be another landmark moment for the iconic monster and deserves to be seen in theaters. Gkids is proud that Toho has chosen them to continue bringing Godzilla’s story to audiences.

What Is Godzilla Minus Zero?
Details about the new movie’s story are still secret, but the title Minus Zero hints that it will continue the story from Minus One. That previous film showed Japan struggling after World War II, and then facing further destruction from Godzilla. This new film likely explores what happens after that low point.
The new movie will likely delve into what happens after the previous events, and many fans believe it will be a particularly grim installment in the series.
