Amazon’s God of War series just powered up with a big name behind the camera.
Frederick E.O. Toye, an Emmy-winning director known for his work on popular shows like Shōgun, The Boys, Fallout, and Westworld, will direct the first two episodes of the upcoming live-action series based on the popular PlayStation video game.
Toye will be working with Ronald D. Moore, the creator of shows like Battlestar Galactica and For All Mankind, who is leading the series. Moore became involved last year and helped get the project, which had been in development for a long time, moving forward.

Pre-Production and Casting Underway
Currently in Vancouver, the team is beginning pre-production and officially starting to cast actors for the series. Amazon has already approved the first two seasons of God of War.
Casting is underway for Kratos and Atreus as the new God of War series adapts the Norse mythology. The show will center on their journey to fulfill Faye’s dying wish – scattering her ashes from the highest point in all the realms. Throughout their travels, Kratos attempts to guide his son in becoming a god, while Atreus tries to help his father reconnect with his humanity.

Production Details and Creative Team
The television series God of War is a collaboration between Sony Pictures Television, Amazon MGM Studios, and PlayStation Productions. It’s also being produced by Moore’s Tall Ship Productions as part of his agreement with Sony.
The series is executive produced by Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, Cory Barlog, Karen Shankar, Matthew Graham, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, Hermen Hulst, Roy Lee, and Brad Van Arragon. Joe Menosky, Marc Bernardin, Tania Lotia, Ben McGinnis, and Jeff Ketcham serve as co-executive producers.
