And here’s the official synopsis for How to Make a Killing from A24 to accompany the trailer:
Becket Redfellow’s mother, Mary, was cut off from her wealthy family when he was born, leaving them both with nothing. After her death, Becket is determined to fulfill her belief that he’s meant for something great, even if it requires ruthless actions. Driven by a desire to reclaim what he believes was stolen from his family, Becket plans to eliminate the seven relatives standing in the way of his inheritance. As each relative dies in a series of cleverly staged accidents, Becket begins to think wealth really can bring happiness. However, he must balance his dangerous scheme with his relationship with Ruth, who doesn’t care about money, and the renewed attention of Julia, an old, flirtatious acquaintance who certainly does.
The new film by John Patton Ford is inspired by the 1949 movie Kind Hearts and Coronets, which starred Alec Guinness. The script went through a couple of working titles – first Rothschild, then Huntington – before becoming How to Make a Killing. It will be released in theaters on February 20, 2026.
