In an exclusive conversation with PEOPLE, Powell fondly remembered their initial day on set. He described how Daisy made a lasting impression on him with her stylish attire and accessories – a chic outfit complete with a scarf and various other accessories. “I was taken aback,” he expressed, “She exuded an air of sophistication right from the start.”

Edgar Jones, known for her part in the hit TV show Normal People, jokingly commented, “I put in a lot of work for our first date.” Yet, despite their fashionable beginnings, both actors adopted a more laid-back style during the filming of Twisters due to its demanding schedule.

During the filming process, we found ourselves donning sweatpants more often than not, Powell laughed. I recall each time I arrived on set, Daisy would tease me, “The same sweater?” It was quite amusing how our elegant outfits transformed into comfortable sweatsuits so swiftly.

Led by director Lee Isaac Chung, “Twisters” is a self-contained follow-up to the widely enjoyed 1996 film “Twister.” In this fresh installment, Edgar Jones assumes the meteorologist role previously held by Kate Cooper, while Powell brings Tyler Owens, also recognized as the Tornado Wrangler, to life as the daring storm chaser.

After looking back at the filmmaking process, Edgar Jones shared his thoughts, “At the beginning, it’s essential to make a strong first impression. Yet, when you’re in the thick of it during month three, constantly battered by jet engines, rain, hail, and debris, it becomes an exhausting struggle. Each day, I just wanted to sleep in as long as possible before heading to set – barely managing to pull myself together and make it.”

In spite of the difficult filming conditions with strong winds, both actors showed great respect for each other’s commitment and ability. Powell commended Edgar Jones for her outstanding performance in Normal People, considering it a pivotal role that motivated him. Likewise, Edgar Jones was thrilled to hear that Powell had been chosen to play Tyler Owens, believing he would do an excellent job in the part.

In Set It Up and Top Gun: Maverick, Glen won over Edgar Jones with his performance. He expressed, “When I learned Glen was being considered for the role of Tyler, I couldn’t help but think, ‘What a great choice! He is going to excel in that part.'”

Behind the scenes, they shared a deep respect and friendly bond. This translated into an excellent working relationship while filming, as Powell explained: “It’s truly enjoyable to collaborate with someone whose work you’ve always admired. It’s an exciting experience to go to work knowing that this person is handling their responsibilities.”
