‘Girl Does Not Complain’: Sofia Richie Had 6 Weeks Of Contractions Before Giving Birth To Daughter, Doctor Reveals

As an ardent fan following Sofia Richie‘s journey, I must say her strength and resilience during her challenging pregnancy are nothing short of inspiring. It’s not every day you hear about such experiences from celebrities, and it’s heartening to see Sofia openly discussing the hardships she faced.

Sofia Richie recently opened up about her tough pregnancy journey on a podcast called She MD. Her OBGYN, Dr. Thais Aliabadi (Dr. A), hosted the discussion which took place on October 15th. In this conversation, she detailed the hurdles she faced before welcoming her daughter Eloise into the world with her husband, Elliot Grainge, in May.

She shared with Doctor A and podcast co-host Mary Alice Haney that it seems conversations often overlook the difficulties experienced after giving birth, as well as the problems that arise beforehand. The woman reminisced about her pregnancy being problem-free until she was 32 weeks pregnant. She then mentioned waking up one day feeling slightly uncomfortable, describing it as having a touch of cramps.

She considered it a common issue faced by most expectant mothers, yet it marked the start of her health concerns. When she began to feel unsettled, she messaged Doctor A, anticipating a simple comforting response instead.

Instead, she said something like, “She suggested, ‘Why don’t you visit a fetal specialist for check-up? Just to ensure everything is alright, and afterwards, you can return home.’ She seemed to imply it wasn’t a major issue.

At a crucial moment, Sofia was thankful for the advice she received because, upon closer inspection, it turned out that she was already in the process of giving birth. “I must admit, I was quite scared,” Sofia confessed. Following a six-day stay at the hospital, she yearned to return home. However, despite her longing, she was required to rest in bed and be closely monitored.

She explained what she did and mentioned that it turned into a waiting period afterwards. Remarkably, she stayed in labor for six weeks while on bed rest before being induced at 38 weeks, which was Dr. A’s aim for her. Sofia went on to say that the delivery was wonderful.

Doctor A praised the model’s resilience and determination during the trying time. “This girl does not complain, by the way. What she went through, it was really traumatic. Six weeks she was having contractions,” the doctor said. However, Sofia further reassured that despite going through multiple complications pre and post-birth, she and her daughter are healthy and safe.
