The Yotei Grasslands have a strong link to Atsu’s past in Ghost of Yotei, which is why you’ll find Familiar Locations. Visiting these places triggers memories for Atsu, showing her childhood with her family – her brother and parents – and reveals more about her history and what drives her today.
You’ll find several flashback scenes within Atsu’s home, but there are also three additional Familiar Locations scattered throughout the Yotei Grasslands region of Ghost of Yotei that trigger flashbacks. We suggest experiencing each of these Familiar Location flashbacks before you move on, as they add depth to the story and foreshadow important plot points.
Here’s a list of each recognizable location in the Yotei Grasslands – excluding Atus’s Home – and details on how to find them.
Familiar Location 1

The first Familiar Location can be found West of Atsu’s Home, before the Plum Crane Sumi-e.
Familiar Location 2

Head West from Atsu’s house, crossing the river, and you’ll eventually reach the second Familiar Location. This spot is located right North of The Old Widow’s Garden.
Familiar Location 3

As you progress through the story, you’ll reach Master Heijiro’s Garden, located to the east of the White Dye House and south of the Outcrop Homestead. The third Familiar Location can be found within Master Heijiro’s Garden, and it will allow you to communicate with the elder Master Heijiro.
