In the game “Ghost of Tsushima” developed by Sony and Sucker Punch Studios, players were immersed in a breathtaking feudal Japanese island that combined tranquil beauty with intense violence. As a player, I invested countless hours exploring this world and uncovering hidden mysteries. Who wouldn’t want to return? Good news for fans! Thanks to Crunchyroll, you can revisit Tsushima in 2027 as an anime series inspired by the game’s “Legends” cooperative multiplayer experience and Japanese folktales will premiere exclusively on this streaming platform. The series is set to debut in 2027.
In partnership with Aniplex, renowned for hit series like “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba,” “Solo Leveling,” and “Sword Art Online,” a new anime based on the game “Ghost of Tsushima” is being developed. The collaboration aims to bring the traditional samurai ambiance of “Ghost of Tsushima: Legends” to life through captivating storytelling and visually stunning imagery. Additionally, Sony Music will contribute to the production of the show’s soundtrack.
According to Rahul Purini, President of Crunchyroll, this project showcases the powerful collaboration between Sony’s creative forces – PlayStation Studios and PlayStation Productions, Sucker Punch Productions and Aniplex, Sony Music’s renowned artists, and Crunchyroll’s far-reaching marketing and distribution network. He added that the upcoming “Ghost of Tsushima” anime will provide fans with a thrilling, fresh perspective on the game, offering an engaging anime style that promises to be both daring and innovative.
In summer 2020, Ghost of Tsushima was introduced as the final significant AAA title during the PlayStation 4 era. This open-world adventure immerses players in the role of Jin Sakai, a samurai prince on the Japanese island of Tsushima who has been defeated by the Mongols. In an effort to reclaim the island, Sakai must resort to ninja and guerrilla tactics when traditional samurai teachings fail him. Notably, the game is visually stunning, and since its release, it has sold over 13 million copies.
1) Development is underway for a live-action movie at Sony, with Chad Stahelski set to take the director’s chair. The follow-up video game, “Ghost of Yotei,” is planned for launch in the year 2025.
