It’s clear that the Super Mario Bros. series is designed primarily for children, but certain news calls for more mature language. In other words, let me express my excitement with “Let’s-a goooooo!” Today’s Nintendo Direct for the Nintendo Switch 2 revealed an extensive sneak peek at the upcoming Mario Kart installment. Prepare yourself to drive wherever you want, with whoever you want, and for as long as you want, with Mario Kart World!
You’ll have a chance to play it shortly, as the game will be released alongside Switch 2, perfectly timed for summer, on June 5th, 2025.
Today, Nintendo captured the limelight in the gaming universe as they unveiled an impressive update for the upcoming Switch 2. The showcase started with a captivating trailer overflowing with gameplay snippets for “Mario Kart Universe”. Nintendo also shared extensive details about the exciting new additions planned for their popular series.
In the title of this game, “World” signifies its diverse locations that stretch across different parts of the earth. Racers will find themselves zooming around the entire planet. The time of day and weather conditions in these regions will impact gameplay, so you’ll need to adapt quickly to your surroundings. Plus, you’ll get a chance to explore all these dynamic environments. Essentially, in Mario Kart World, players can venture off the track and drive almost anywhere.

In the updated environment called “Free Roam,” you’ll have the freedom to navigate through unseen locations and paths. You can also embark on an enjoyable journey of discovery, driving around with your companions to capture stunning landscapes for shared memories.
The game is retaining its traditional four-race Grand Prix tournament, but now allows racers to move swiftly to the next course within the competition itself. There will be a record-breaking 24 racers participating, which should make for an exciting experience during the “Knockout Tour.” This means you can race continuously from one end of the world to another. However, don’t forget to hit the checkpoints along the way; failing to meet a placement could lead to elimination.
And you thought the Rainbow Road was stressful.
Check this out – a fresh version of Mario Kart with loads of new features, brand-new courses to explore, and innovative ways to play! And guess what? It drops in just two months. So, let’s get excited and ready for it, shall we? Let’s do this!
Well, just remember to keep in mind that since Mario Kart World is meant for kids, it’s best not to use language or behavior that may be inappropriate for them while playing together.
