Having grown up watching this terrifying classic, I can only imagine the sheer excitement and adrenaline that visitors will feel when they step into Leatherface’s gruesome world.

Hidden away in a seemingly innocuous nook of Texas, whispers of hidden truths echo through the air. People may brush it off as mere ramblings from an elderly local, but I know better – the chilling specter of insanity has resurfaced once more. The infamous Leatherface is back.

2022 saw Netflix and Legendary Entertainment’s “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” carve another gruesome installment into the timeless tale of the terrifying, chainsaw-wielding horror icon Leatherface. Stepping out of retirement, Harlow, Texas’ towering and bloodthirsty maniac embarks on a chilling killing spree when an unwitting group of influencers try to revitalize and exploit the area.



Clearly demonstrated is the thrilling Texas Chainsaw Massacre experience at Six Flags, where intense bloodshed and gore are prominently displayed to both terrify and exhilarate dedicated horror enthusiasts. Various moments from the movie are vividly recreated, such as the sunflower field where the sheriff’s van meets its tragic end, marking the beginning of Leatherface’s chilling reign. Additionally, you’ll find the “death crawl,” which portrays the repugnant catacombs beneath the orphanage; Harlow’s eerie “dead street”; and the notorious party bus massacre scene. Visitors to this town may unfortunately find themselves in the midst of Leatherface’s revival. With a fresh face mask on, he roars his chainsaw and eagerly awaits the chance to butcher any hapless individual who stumbles into his territory. Allison Fox from RWS Global explains that the movie will unfold in a clear sequence of events. This is because they collaborated with Six Flags and Legendary Entertainment to create this unique experience. Key moments include watching Sally Hardesty prepare for battle in her barn, exploring the orphanage where you’ll witness a murder as Melody did, peeking under the bed just like she did, seeing the famous party bus, and observing Sally and Leatherface’s intense confrontation. Unfortunately, Sally doesn’t fare well in this showdown. The climax, however, is something you must experience for yourself!

“The spine-tingling and nerve-wracking sequences in this movie make it an ideal fit for a Six Flags maze event. As Edithann ‘EA’ Ramey, the Chief Fright Officer at Six Flags, explained, they wanted to craft an exceptional Halloween experience like no other, so they brainstormed ways to incorporate popular intellectual property to enhance the terror factor. Since movies centered around Halloween offer the ultimate fright, it was a natural choice.”



Ramey explained that he researched online about the top horror franchises since he’s not fond of being scared. He wanted to know more about what was available in the field. Turns out, the intellectual property for one of those top franchises is based in Dallas, Texas, where they are located. When discussing potential IP options with their operators, Ramey found that everyone on his team strongly suggested “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” as it holds a special significance to them.

As a huge fan, I can’t help but appreciate the recognition that both Six Flags and RWS Global have given to Legendary Entertainment and their expertise, not just for this film, but for the entire franchise. Just like how Six Flags brings chills during Fright Fest, Legendary uses the Halloween season as a chance to creatively celebrate their horror franchises in ways that keep us fans on our toes!

Speaking about the 2022 Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Amado Trevino, Director of Interactive Media & Experiences at Legendary Entertainment, shared that he was looking for a partner who shared our enthusiasm and could capture the movie’s mix of innovative twists and intense chaos. The ideal candidate turned out to be Six Flags, whose dedication to providing an exceptional Fright Fest experience made them the perfect collaborator. With RWS as our ally, we were confident that we had all the ingredients needed for a truly extraordinary event.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but share my excitement about being part of Fox and the RWS team, tasked with an exhilarating challenge: bringing the heart-stopping horror of “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” to life in a way that respects its chilling legacy. It’s not just about preserving the authenticity of this iconic film; it’s about honoring the franchise, as we celebrate its golden anniversary and pay tribute to the terror that has captivated audiences for half a century.

For the first time ever, this movie is being transformed into a live event, as Fox explains. It wasn’t easy because we wanted to capture every aspect of it. However, much of this film can’t be constructed in real-world settings. So, our initial move was to ensure that the scenes told a consistent story and were understandable. Then, we asked ourselves if we could physically build these elements and still execute them effectively. Honestly, we were pleasantly surprised by what we managed to accomplish.

Among all the sequences, there’s one that both I and the production team believe will leave visitors most impressed. As Fox puts it, “One of, if not the best, scenes in this labyrinth is the party bus massacre.” He goes on to say that “It’s arguably the most gripping, awe-inspiring scene in the film.” Recreating this scene was an exciting experience for us. The guests step onto the bus unaware of where Leatherface will appear from. There are heaps of bodies and blood, rain and thunder outside, creating a very confusing atmosphere. Bringing this chaos into a real-life setting felt like a significant achievement. I think it’s safe to say that this will be something truly extraordinary for the visitors.

Ramey aspires that visitors to this attraction will depart feeling thrilled about how authentic and true-to-the-film the experience was… and maybe even eager for another encounter with Leatherface. In essence, he wants them to feel they’ve been part of something extraordinary and say, “I can’t wait to do it again!” and head back in line.

Trevino mentions, “This encounter guarantees constant frights, awe-inspiring instances, and an involvement so profound it lingers. Get ready to confront your apprehensions and discover why everyone’s been talking!”
