Prime Video’s German drama, Maxton Hall — The World Between Us, is quickly becoming a hit with its new season. Streaming data shows it’s now more popular than the American series The Summer I Turned Pretty, and it’s currently the most-watched show in countries like the U.S., the UK, and South Africa.

Based on Mona Kasten’s 2018 novel Save Me, the series Maxton Hall launched on Prime Video on May 9, 2024. It features Damian Hardung as James Beaufort and Harriet Herbig-Matten as Ruby Bell. Soon after its release, Maxton Hall became a global hit, reaching number one in over 120 countries.
The second season premiered on November 7th and has been well-received, especially for how it depicts the characters’ love lives and challenges. Currently, 89% of viewers on Rotten Tomatoes have given it a positive rating, showing strong audience approval.
Viewers can look forward to even more emotional moments and love stories as the characters deal with life and their connections to each other. Before season two even begins, Prime Video has announced that a third season is planned, promising to continue following James and Ruby’s journey.
According to FlixPatrol analyst Jonas Meyer, the success of Maxton Hall demonstrates that shows from outside the US can attract a worldwide audience. He noted that the show’s second season was particularly popular, as evidenced by its strong viewership numbers.
As a reviewer, I’ve been watching the success of Maxton Hall — The World Between Us with real interest. It’s fantastic to see an international series not just compete with, but thrive alongside, the big American productions on a platform like Prime Video. What really struck me is how quickly it climbed the charts – a clear sign that compelling stories and characters people can connect with truly resonate, no matter where they’re made.
