As a lifelong fan of horror films, I am absolutely thrilled about the upcoming release of ‘George A. Romero’s Resident Evil’ documentary. Having grown up watching Romero’s masterpieces like Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead, I feel like I’ve been on this zombie apocalypse journey with him all along.
Uncork’d Entertainment plans to debut a fresh documentary called ‘George A. Romero’s Resident Evil’ in January 2025.
As a dedicated gamer immersing myself into the intriguing narrative of Hollywood’s untold tales, I can’t help but be captivated by Brandon Salisbury’s masterful direction. This film takes us on an intimate journey through a captivating epoch in cinematic history that was never fully realized on the silver screen.
Starting January 7th, you’ll be able to stream or download this documentary, offering a rare glimpse into the proposed film adaptation of the classic horror video game, overseen by George A. Romero – a renowned director who has left an indelible mark on the zombie movie genre.
As reported by Bloody Disgusting, the idea for this project first emerged in 1998 when Constantin Film aimed to transform the video game into reality under Romero’s guidance. However, the project remained stuck in its initial phases and didn’t advance any further.
Nevertheless, the project didn’t progress beyond its development phase. Now, Salisbury’s documentary aims to delve into the various aspects of this captivating unfulfilled concept.

The movie incorporates a diverse assortment of historical footage, crucial interviews, and undisclosed records for a compelling presentation.
As stated by Salisbury, the documentary has been carefully put together to pay tribute to Romero’s lasting impact and his significant role in both the horror genre and filmmaking.
George Romero is credited for shaping modern horror and creating the concept of zombies as we know them today, including the basis for ‘Resident Evil’. I’m proud to share with fans an untold tale from his most significant unrealized project, paying tribute to the visionary who ignited my passion for filmmaking.
Keith Leopard, President of Uncork’d Entertainment, showed great excitement about sharing this tale with viewers, emphasizing the documentary’s investigation into the ‘what ifs’ and its tribute to Romero’s innovative storytelling approach.
The upcoming launch will offer viewers fresh insights into the unused concept by Romero, revealing its possible influence on both Hollywood and fans of horror movies.
