General Hospital: What Happened to Brando Corbin? Character Fate Explored

As a devoted follower of General Hospital, I must say that Brando Corbin, played by the talented Johnny Wactor, was an exceptional addition to the show. His character brought a fresh dynamic and depth to the storylines, especially with his complex relationship with the Corinthos family and his tumultuous past.

On the television series General Hospital, actor Johnny Wactor portrayed Brando Corbin, one of the initial victims of the menacing villain known as The Hook. Tragically, Wactor himself met an untimely end at the hands of sociopathic assailants in downtown Los Angeles on May 26, 2024. While Brando was not a long-standing character, his presence added a touch of traditional ethics to the show’s narrative.

Fans who have recently been indicted will recall Brando Corbin from General Hospital as the one who infused the show with drama, romance, and action during his two-year tenure. As a member of the Corinthos family by virtue of his mother, Gladys, Brando’s relationship with Mike Corinthos (formerly Corbin) saw him upholding his duties and justice.

An overview of the General Hospital character, Brando Corbin

Prior to his arrival at Port Charles, the character Brando Corbin was introduced on General Hospital, portrayed by the late Johnny Wactor. In June 2019, Mike Corbin experienced a mix-up, confusing Brando with Dev Cerci, an unlawful immigrant from Turkey.

As a result, Sonny compelled Gladys to assert that Dev was Brando’s son, allegedly with a fictitious spouse, and that Brando had passed away. Brando made his entrance at Port Charles on January 30, 2020, which Gladys agreed to. In the same timeline, Cyrus Renault’s men assaulted Carly, but Brando intervened. A firefight broke out, and during this chaos, Brando concealed himself as an employee of Sonny’s warehouse.

While Brando was recuperating in the hospital, Carly stumbled upon photos of Gladys and Dev among his personal items. Upon hearing this, Sonny interrogated Gladys about the matter. Due to Brando’s connections with unsavory individuals, Gladys and Dev had been out of touch with him for some time. However, he still kept tabs on his mother through social media and the supposed grandson she mentioned.

In my role as a dedicated follower, as I tended to Brando during his recovery at the hospital, I stumbled upon photographs of Gladys and Dev among his personal items. Upon discovering this, I shared the find with Sonny, who subsequently questioned Gladys about it. Given Brando’s entanglement with unsavory individuals, Gladys and her son had been estranged for some time. However, despite their separation, he maintained a connection to them through social media and even followed her assumed grandson online.

Despite Sonny’s prohibition, Gladys disclosed that Dev was her child to Brando. Brando, an employee at Xtreme Motors (located in Sonny’s garage), declined Cyrus’s job proposal. Subsequently, when Brando rejected Cyrus, Cyrus’s goons attacked him within the garage. The assault was filmed and, as a consequence, Brando had to be hospitalized.

In order to learn more about Cyrus, Brando posed as his driver, working alongside Sonny. To establish trust, he shared details about Sasha, one of Cyrus’ associates who used drugs. Simultaneously, he also took her to the hospital when she overdosed. Eventually, a romantic relationship sprung up between Sasha and Brando.

In my role as a lifestyle expert, I’d recast that scenario like this: When Sasha announced her pregnancy, I chose to part ways with Cyrus. Shortly after, Cyrus was arrested, leaving me jobless from my position as a driver. As I worked diligently at the garage, I took steps to establish our family’s new beginning. However, an unsettling turn of events unfolded when Esme Prince kidnapped Sasha and confined her to a closet, putting our unborn child in jeopardy.

Tragic turns in life and career of Brado

On November 19, 2021, Brando and Sasha welcomed their son, whom they eventually named Liam Mike Corbin. However, doctors revealed that the baby had no brain activity due to oxygen deprivation prior to birth, so they decided to disconnect life support. In March of this year, overcome by grief, they departed from their town. A month later, they tied the knot in a chapel situated close to Niagara Falls.

In April 2022, Brando persisted in doing honest work. Then, on that same year in April, he encountered a robber in an altercation. During the summer of 2022, someone with a hook as a weapon started attacking individuals. Ava was the initial target, but she managed to survive. On September 14, 2022, Brando was stabbed twice in his chest by The Hook, leaving fragments of bone in his lungs. After being hospitalized and receiving treatment, Brando started coughing up blood and experiencing seizures on September 19, 2022. The Hook tainted him the next day, resulting in his demise. He was the unfortunate first victim of The Hook’s brutal assault. The perpetrator was later identified as Heather Webber, who was institutionalized.

Previously it was noted that Johnny Wactor portrayed Brando in the TV show General Hospital. Following Brando’s demise on the soap, Wactor departed. Tragically, on May 26 of this year, Wactor was fatally shot by car thieves in downtown Los Angeles.
