It has been reported that Leslie Charleson, a beloved member of the General Hospital cast, has sadly passed away at the age of 79.
Known primarily for portraying the character Monica Quartermaine on the mentioned television show, her passing was verified to Entertainment Weekly by a representative from the program.
In the meantime, a touching tribute to the late actor, Leslie Charleson, was posted on Instagram on January 12. The post featured a cheerful photo of him, along with heartfelt words penned by General Hospital’s executive producer, Frank Valenti.
With great sadness, the executive producer shares the news of the death of his cherished friend and coworker, Leslie Charleson.
Afterward, it became apparent that he might find it hard to accept the defeat, since Valenti mentioned his regret over no longer having their daily conversations and Charleson’s sharp, humorous remarks.
He went on to praise Charleson, commenting on his extraordinary stage presence during filming, and reminiscing about the actor’s extensive career, which stretched over half a century within the show.

Back in 1977, Charleson was chosen to play Monica Quartermaine on General Hospital. Before this role, she had already gained recognition by starring in As the World Turns, The Wild Wild West, along with some other short-lived soap operas like Love Is a Many Splendored Thing and others. In simpler terms, Charleson was well-known before joining General Hospital, having acted in shows such as As the World Turns, The Wild Wild West, and several brief soap operas including Love Is a Many Splendored Thing.
