On Wednesday, February 26, Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, were tragically discovered deceased in their New Mexico residence. While initial investigations suggested no signs of foul play, subsequent examinations have classified the case as “suspicious,” TMZ reports.

Currently, the housekeeper of Arakawa’s 91-year-old mother has shared a fresh piece of information related to the case. On February 28, an individual named Keiko (whose last name remains undisclosed) informed the Daily Mail that the late classical pianist was in the habit of frequently visiting her mother, who suffered from dementia.

Normally, she would contact her mother to check on her health once every one to two months. However, for the past several months leading up to her demise, her calls suddenly ceased without explanation. By October, Keiko was puzzled and inquired about the situation with the news outlet.

In the past few months, there were growing concerns among Arakawa’s relatives due to her decreased contact. Similarly, it seems that Hackman had been pulling away from his loved ones and growing more isolated. One of his daughters mentioned that they hadn’t spoken for several months before his sad demise.

On Wednesday, it was reported that actor Arakawa, famous for his role in The French Connection, and one of their dogs were found deceased, indicating they had passed away some time prior to discovery. The finding sparked speculation due to the unlocked door of their home, leading to suspicions about a potential intrusion.

Moreover, Arakawa’s lifeless body was discovered lying on a bathroom floor, surrounded by discarded pills, while the countertop bore witness to the scattered remnants. Initially, Hackman’s family suspected carbon monoxide poisoning as the tragic cause behind their untimely demise, but upon thorough investigation, no signs of a gas leak were detected.

Lately, CNN has disclosed that in a pair’s residence, various medications such as Tylenol, a thyroid medication, Diltiazem (used for high blood pressure and chest pain management), along with unidentified pills on the kitchen counter, were discovered.
