Gene Hackman’s Daughter Speaks Out on His ‘Good’ Health Before Mysterious Death

On February 26, Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, tragically passed away at their residence in New Mexico. Alongside them was their beloved pet dog, who also perished. The unfortunate incident came to light when authorities were contacted for a wellness check, as Arakawa had not been heard from for several weeks by a neighbor.

Reports indicate that Gene Hackman’s lifeless body was discovered close to the kitchen area, whereas Arakawa was found in the bathroom, surrounded by prescription medication. A search warrant procured by TMZ hinted at their deaths being questionable, although authorities initially stated there was no indication of any suspicious activity.

Leslie Hackman, Gene’s youngest child, shared with the Daily Mail that her father remained in excellent physical shape despite his advanced age. “He enjoyed doing Pilates and yoga regularly, and he continued this routine multiple times per week,” she explained. “As a result, he was maintaining good health.

Yet, she confessed to Us Weekly that his memory was becoming less clear. “Apparently, his wife needed to remind him three times that it was his birthday on their recent celebration,” she disclosed.

Leslie shared that her bond with her father is tight-knit, yet it’s been a couple of months since they last met because she resides in California. She went on to say that things were as usual and everything was going well for them.

Leslie suggested that carbon monoxide poisoning might have been what led to his death, even though no gas leaks were found. Her primary worry is that, if this was true, her father may not have experienced any suffering and instead passed away tranquilly.

Although the police haven’t officially disclosed the reason behind their deaths, it appears that the couple might have passed away over a day prior to their discovery. The investigation continues on this matter.

Leslie and her sister Elizabeth announced the passing of their father to Page Six. Gene Hackman, who was married to Faye Maltese from 1956 to 1986, is survived by three children: Leslie, Elizabeth, and Christopher. He remarried in 1991.
