Gene Hackman, His Wife Were Dead for At Least a Day While Their 2 Dogs Survived; Family Suspects Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

Trigger warning: This article contains mentions of death.

Sadly, on Thursday, February 27, Gene Hackman, his wife Betsy Arakawa, and one of their beloved pets were discovered deceased at their home in New Mexico. Fresh details about this puzzling event have emerged, shedding light on the circumstances surrounding it.

Based on TMZ’s report, authorities conducted a wellness check at the couple’s residence following a neighbor’s call. Upon obtaining a search warrant, they found the couple and one of their dogs deceased. The bodies appeared to have been there for at least a day based on their investigation.

As a dedicated follower, I’m sharing this update: The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office is delving deeper into the case, aiming to pinpoint the precise cause of their demise, as no foul play has been established so far. One of Hackman’s daughters, Elizabeth, has shared with TMZ that the family holds a strong suspicion that carbon monoxide poisoning may be the culprit behind their tragic deaths.

Sheriff Adan Mendoza of Santa Fe County shared with the media outlet that the residence of the Bonnie and Clyde actor appeared to be a contemporary one, and as far as they were aware, it did not have any gas leak problems.

As I observed the meticulous investigation by the deputies, I ensured that the fire department team checked for any harmful gases within the residence, prioritizing everyone’s safety and wellbeing.

According to a different news source, it was mentioned that Hackman and Arakawa’s additional two dogs made it through the suspected gas leak accident. Since 2004, the couple had been residing in their New Mexico mansion following the Superman actor’s retirement. The esteemed award recipient and his spouse led a relatively tranquil life and took pleasure in leisure pursuits such as painting to unwind during their retirement years.

In 1991, the pair exchanged their vows, and they were recently spotted at a nearby eatery enjoying an evening meal together. At 95 years old, Hackman appeared weak and used a cane for support. He leaves behind his three children – Christopher, Elizabeth, and Leslie – whom he had with his first wife, Faye Maltese.
