Gamma – Bitcoin, Runes, & Ordinals

Why you should listen

Nick from Gamma collaborates with Andy to explore various topics including Bitcoin, the latest halving, memecoins, Runes, and Ordinals. Ordinals represent a new form of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) on the Bitcoin blockchain that enable users to directly mint NFTs. With each satoshi (the smallest Bitcoin unit) having the capability to store data, Ordinal Inscriptions can be created using different file formats such as JPGs, GIFs, or PDFs.

With Ordinal Theory’s guidance (which identifies the specific order of Satoshis), you can now attach data to individual Satoshis on the Bitcoin blockchain and trade them much like Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). Regardless if it’s an image, a message, or any other data, this information is permanently and safely stored at the base level of the Bitcoin Blockchain.

Due to growing curiosity about Ordinals, the Bitcoin blockchain has experienced heightened activity. This surge benefits miners by providing them with more fee income. In turn, this results in enhanced security and decentralization for Bitcoin. Moreover, every record inscribed on the Bitcoin blockchain is irreversibly and permanently secured thanks to its strong infrastructure.
