‘Full House’ Star Faces New Battle: Actor Reveals Tongue Cancer Diagnosis After Beating Lymphoma

Actor Dave Coulier is facing a new health battle only months after celebrating a major victory.

During an appearance on Today, actor Bob Saget revealed he’s been diagnosed with p16 squamous carcinoma, a type of head and neck cancer affecting the base of his tongue. He discovered the cancer during a routine scan in October, after recently finishing treatment for non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

I was really shocked when the doctors told me my cancers weren’t connected. I actually asked them if the lymphoma might have caused the other one, and they were adamant – completely unrelated, they said.

So, I just learned that Dave Coulier had talked about his first cancer diagnosis on Today a year ago. Apparently, it all started late in 2024. He had a really bad upper respiratory infection that caused a lot of swelling, and that led doctors to do some scans which, unfortunately, revealed the cancer.

After seven months of chemotherapy, he relied a lot on his friends and family for support. He shared that John Stamos came to visit him at his home in Michigan, which meant a great deal to him. He said, “John is like a brother, and his visit, along with the incredible support we’ve received, has been amazing for both me and my wife, Melissa.”

After months of treatment, Coulier was finally able to focus on his well-being. He began to pay closer attention to the products he used daily and worried about the potential harm from the chemicals they contained.

After realizing how many harmful products were in his own home, he decided to create a digital marketplace for cleaner, safer alternatives. This idea developed into AwearMarket.com, because he found it too difficult to replace everything himself. He explained, “I realized I was surrounded by harmful products, and I thought, ‘It’s really hard to replace all of this – I need to create a place that makes it easier for everyone.’”

I was really saddened to hear that Dave Coulier is battling cancer again. He recently shared with People that he’s going through 35 rounds of radiation, finishing up at the end of the year. It’s tough – he says it’s become painful to talk and swallow, and he even jokes that he sounds drunk because his speech is slurred. He’s lost about ten pounds, but thankfully his wife, Melissa, is helping him stick to a good diet while he’s going through treatment. It’s great to hear he has such a supportive partner during this difficult time.

Despite the difficulties, Coulier remains optimistic. He explained on Today that p16 squamous carcinoma is often curable, especially when detected early, which was the case for him.

He shared that his outlook is very positive, explaining that finding cancer early saved his life both times. He strongly urged everyone to keep up with regular medical checkups, emphasizing that screenings like colonoscopies and prostate exams can be life-saving. He told People magazine that a PET scan was crucial in detecting his second cancer early. Surprisingly, he expressed gratitude for his first cancer diagnosis, as it led to the early detection of the second one.
