At the age of 42, following a 20-year gap, Josh Gad met up with his father once more. On The Rebecca Show on Sirius XM, the actor shared that his dad expressed interest in watching Josh’s Broadway musical, Gutenberg!, where he performed alongside Andrew Rannels.
Gad further revealed that a variety of ideas were swirling within him, as this was the initial moment he would be presenting before his father.
During the show’s airing, the actor informed the interviewer that the reunion, which happened when he was forty-two, was orchestrated according to his own decisions.
As a devoted admirer, I can share that the actress from Frozen once expressed, “For two decades, I hadn’t had the chance to meet my father face-to-face. One day, he reached out to me, calling from New Jersey, saying, ‘I long to watch your performance on stage.'” She went on to mention, “And I responded, ‘Very well, it will be on my conditions.’
In other words, the actor asserted that his father had never witnessed him acting, not even during school productions. Consequently, the emotional bond between them became especially strong when they both experienced the performance together for the first time.
Following the performance, The Wedding Ringer star admitted to having an uncomfortable chat with his father regarding the show. He extended an invitation for his dad to visit him at home, where they discussed the peculiarity of his on-stage attire.
In the subsequent part of the podcast episode, the Pixel star disclosed, “Dad was utterly puzzled and perplexed [by the costume].” He elaborated further, “It proved to be quite therapeutic. I discovered a sense of closure that I hadn’t realized I needed.
It was truly wonderful to share that moment with him, where our conversation flowed freely, and much of what we shared found its way into the published work.
Simultaneously, the actor continued to publicize his latest memoir titled “In Gad We Trust: A Reveal-Some.” In this book, he candidly shared insights into various aspects of his personal life, self-perception, and journey through the entertainment business.
In a statement made publicly available, Gad expressed that following years of reading others’ writings, he has chosen to pen his own thoughts, resulting in the book titled “In Gad We Trust: A Confession”.
The memoir is available to read in the bookstores now.
