11-bit studios, a developer from Poland, has unveiled the upcoming game titled “Frostpunk: The Year 1886“.

1886: Frostpunk Reforged, a new iteration of the original Frostpunk, will be constructed utilizing the advanced Unreal Engine 5, offering an updated visual experience along with innovative content and gameplay systems. Furthermore, mod support is now feasible as the game undergoes its UE5 rebuild.

11-bit Studios revealed a fresh project that’s back to the original Frostpunk essence, providing both novice and seasoned residents of New London with an enhanced version of the tough, ethically complex survival journey that sparked it all. This project comes as Frostpunk 2 proceeds with free substantial updates, console release, and additional content.

Instead of just revamping its appearance, Frostpunk 1886 significantly enhances the foundation of the original game. It introduces novel content, mechanics, laws, and what’s particularly intriguing is an entirely new Purpose path, ensuring a unique gaming experience for even veteran players.

Besides the possibility of additional content due to mod support, transitioning the game to Unreal Engine 5 allows for the opportunity of developer-created DLC, hinted at by the studio. It appears development started as early as 2025, with further information about the new game to be shared in the upcoming months.
