Freddie Highmore To Play Keeley Hawes’ Estranged Son In The Assassin Series? Everything We Know So Far

As a lifestyle expert with a penchant for unraveling intricate narratives and appreciating exceptional performances, I must say that The Assassin, starring Keeley Hawes and Freddie Highmore, is shaping up to be an enthralling addition to my viewing list. With its gripping premise, stellar cast, and production by the award-winning Two Brothers Pictures, this series promises to deliver a high-stakes thriller with a dynamic mother-son relationship at its core.

In a brand-new Amazon Prime Video production titled “The Assassin,” Keeley Hawes and Freddie Highmore are set to shine. This enthralling series, penned by the dynamic duo Harry and Jack Williams, is at present being shot in Greece. A total of six gripping episodes are planned for this series.

The story is about Julie, a retired assassin played by Hawes (Bodyguard, Scoop), who lives a quiet life on a remote Greek island. Her peaceful life is interrupted when her estranged son, Edward, played by Highmore (The Good Doctor, Bates Motel), comes to visit.

I, being an ardent admirer, find myself in possession of fresh insights regarding my dad’s history, yet finding the opportune moment to share this with my remote mother has proven elusive. However, when the time comes, events spiral out of control swiftly, escalating into perilous circumstances. My past, Julie, seems to be relentlessly pursuing me, compelling us both to abandon our sanctuary on the island and go into hiding. As we collaborate to evade capture, the fragile state of our already tense bond is pushed to its absolute limit.

In The Assassin series, Edward, intrigued by fresh clues about his parentage, struggles to find an opportune moment to discuss this with his elusive mother. However, when the chance arrives, events take a dangerous turn as Julie’s perilous past resurfaces, compelling them to leave the island and live in hiding, escaping their pursuers together.

The show is created by the acclaimed production house, Two Brothers Pictures, which has previously worked on The Tourist, Boat Story, and Fleabag. They are collaborating with ZDF, a German co-producer, All3Media International, and Stan based in Australia.

Hannah Blyth, the head of TV for Prime Video UK, was thrilled about the series. She said, “Ever since Harry and Jack shared their idea for ‘The Assassin,’ we felt it would deeply connect with our viewers. It’s been a delight to see their scripts unfold with our exceptional cast, with Keeley and Freddie taking the lead.”

As a devoted follower, I’m excited to share Blyth’s words: “The Assassin will deliver an exhilarating high-stakes thriller, centered around a captivating mother-son relationship. This series is brimming with unexpected twists and turns that will undoubtedly keep viewers on the edge of their seats from beginning to end. I can hardly wait for our audience to dive deep into this engrossing new adventure.”

Alongside Hawes and Highmore, the project boasts them as executive producers. The talented ensemble consists of Gina Gershon, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Jack Davenport, Alan Dale, Gerald Kyd, Devon Terrell, Richard Dormer, and David Dencik. Further cast members will be revealed at a later time.
