Freakier Friday Sequel Trailer Sparks Teenage Nostalgia and Fun

Typically, we’re not big fans of sequels for films that don’t appear to require one. However, Disney’s Freaky Friday sequel, Freakier Friday, is an exception worth making. Frankly, there’s been a scarcity of teen-focused movies in our lives lately. Although Freakier Friday may resonate more with millennials, the trailer suggests that the sequel maintains the genuine charm of early 2000s teen films. Therefore, we offer our approval.

Check out the Freakier Friday trailer below.

People often don’t want to grow up until they discover the perks such as driving fancy cars, spending money, and potentially causing a rift in their parents’ marriage – if given the chance, that is. In this expanded version of the hilarious body-swap comedy sequel, Tess, Anna (mother), Anna’s daughter, and Anna’s soon-to-be stepdaughter, find themselves inhabiting each other’s bodies. As adults, we won’t question the logic too much; instead, we’ll embrace it for the light-hearted entertainment it provides. However, this time around, things get a bit more complicated as the daughter and stepdaughter are embarking on a questionable mission. Yet, if their aim is to reunite Anna with her former love, Jake (played by Chad Michael Murray), they have quite a journey ahead of them – especially since Jake mistakes Anna’s flirting for a medical emergency, whoops!

We just hope that Manny Jacinto’s leading man doesn’t get his feelings too hurt. We LOVE him!

In the movie “Freakier Friday,” Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan reprise their roles as Tess and Anna Coleman. The narrative unfolds years after Tess and Anna experienced an identity crisis, with Anna now having a daughter and a stepdaughter-to-be. As they juggle the complexities that arise when two families combine, Tess and Anna find themselves in another unexpected situation. It seems that the same strange incident may happen again. “Freakier Friday” is directed by Nisha Ganatra and is based on Mary Rodgers’ book “Freaky Friday.” The film also features Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, Manny Jacinto, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Rosalind Chao, Chad Michael Murray, Vanessa Bayer, and Mark Harmon. Kristin Burr, Andrew Gunn, Jamie Lee Curtis produce the movie, while Nathan Kelly, Ann Marie Sanderlin, and Lindsay Lohan serve as executive producers.

We’re eagerly anticipating an even more extraordinary Friday as Freakier Friday is set to premiere on August 8. (And yes, that’s a Friday.)
