Frank Miller is officially doing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the first time.
Frank Miller, the acclaimed artist and writer known for works like The Dark Knight Returns, Sin City, and his famous Daredevil series, has created a cover for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #300. This is the first time he’s ever drawn artwork for the TMNT franchise.
The Hollywood Reporter first announced the news as IDW Publishing prepares to make this special issue a major comic book event.
It feels like this recognition is long overdue. Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird have often said that Frank Miller was a significant inspiration for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, particularly because of his groundbreaking work on Daredevil.

Frank Miller’s Influence On TMNT Comes Full Circle
The connection between Frank Miller and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has always been obvious.
Miller’s Daredevil comic introduced a hero with powers from radiation, a knowledgeable martial arts teacher, and a conflict with the ninja group called the Hand. Later, Eastman and Laird built on these concepts with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, featuring four mutated turtles trained by Splinter to fight the Foot Clan in New York City.
This cover is significant because Miller is, for the first time, truly showcasing his personal style on a property that was initially inspired by his earlier creations.
Miller shared that it was a blast working with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on this cover, recalling that they were created by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman as a tribute to his work on Daredevil. He dedicated the cover to the fans.

IDW Goes Big For Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #300
IDW is treating TMNT #300 like a major event.
The publisher announced that the new comic will arrive in stores on July 22nd, starting a story arc called The City That Never Dies. Written by Gene Luen Yang with art by Freddie E. Williams II, the story features Splinter’s return from the dead and promises an exciting and heartfelt adventure that will significantly shape the future of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles universe.
This issue features an extra story by Kevin Eastman and Tom Waltz, plus artwork from classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles artists representing various points in the franchise’s history.
Plus, IDW is releasing a special set of collectible covers sold as blind bags – meaning you won’t know which cover you’re getting until you open the bag!

Eastman And Laird Also Deliver A New Cover
Frank Miller is not the only draw.
As a huge TMNT fan, I was so excited to hear IDW is releasing a special cover for issue #300 illustrated by the original creators, Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird! That instantly makes it a must-have for collectors like me. It’s amazing that the guys who started it all are involved in celebrating over 40 years of TMNT comics – it really honors the history of the series.
As a huge comic book fan, I’m really excited about this special issue! Besides the main cover, we’re getting some incredible variant covers from artists like J. Scott Campbell and Juan Ferreyra, and I’ve heard there are even more on the way as the release date approaches. It’s going to be tough choosing just one!
Ryan Balkam, IDW’s sales director, stated the company is making a major push with TMNT #300, describing it as the best possible experience for fans to both read and collect this year.

The Last Ronin Also Returns
IDW is not stopping with TMNT #300.
IDW Publishing revealed a new comic book, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin – Training Day, coming out in July. This special, extra-long issue revisits the story of Michelangelo as the Last Ronin, now training Casey Marie Jones – the daughter of April O’Neil and Casey Jones – to continue battling the Foot Clan and become the future leader of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
July is going to be a big month for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics! Both the special 300th issue and a new story featuring the Last Ronin will be released.
